Appreciate the replies. The direction for adjustment was what I was after. Will proceed with recommended small changes as per indicator lines on face plate area.

1938 Ford Shock Adjustment.

1938 Deluxe Coupe with original fitted shocks.
Have unmounted left rear shock to check operation and adjust for stiffer movement via the needle valve adjusring screw.

Perhaps they were running an electric fuel pump. And mechanical pump removed and isolated.

Perhaps swap the carbs around to see if any change of position makes a difference. Maybe then a carb to inspect .

No it will not affect it. But to be sure your 6v battery is fully charged!!
Time to heed the good advice given concerning distributor rebuild and condenser check/ replacement.

Here is a picture of 38 deluxe coupe trunk area. NZ RHD.
There are 2 round inspection covers, RHS & LHS held in by 3 screws. Whats the purpose of these?

Turned out the soldered bracket attached to the condenser had come apart!! Earth problem. Refitted one of...

1938 Deluxe Coupe recently purchased. Note with this car there is a separate control for each side under sunvisor for wiper operation.
Was this a standard fitting?

Yep you are correct the frame is a one piece seat back which flips to access compartment behind the seat. Was thinking about stowing the spare in this space. As do not have the clamps etc for stowage...

Yes I had thought along those lines was just seeking confirmation.
And the "cut out" was indeed from factory and not a local owners modification?
As I thought as in the case of a coupe the spare...

The rear seat back support has a curve at top support outline is strengthened with a metal strip. See picture. This being on LHS on RHD car.
The purpose for this shaped piece is ?? Must be a reason...

Have now woken up and checked in the 38/39 Book. It seems the clamping device for the 38 for the deluxe coupe is quite specific for the coupes only.
