Re: Cut-out
I am sure others will answer this better, but I will give it a shot. The cutout determines the generator voltage at which the battery begins to "get a charge". It also prevents the power from the...

Re: timing with a B cam grind
No, the cover does not need to be changed. I would suggest that you carefully go over the timing procedure, which has been covered many times on this forum (do a search) and you will find the...

Re: Float a Motor Front Motor Mount
Yes, bolt the mount to the engine, being careful to not lift the engine any further than necessary to avoid damaging the bellhousing. Then set it down in order to establish the hole positions....

Re: Exhaust Manifold
I wonder if one could remove the nuts and washers, there by gaining enough thread to "double nut" the studs in order to remove them. It just might work.

Re: Electric fuel shutoff
I believe the Tom nailed it with the gas cap suggestion. Please give us a follow up on the problem.

Re: Easy way to lubricate a speedo cable?
I am not sure why no one has suggested "Speedometer Cable Lube". It is a little hard to remove from your hands, but some latex gloves cures that, and it is not affected by cold weather operation.

Re: troubleshooting strater noise
No, there is no possibility of an oil leak with the starter removed. Don't forget to hook the battery cable back up to the wire to the terminal box, so that you have ignition power.

Is it possible to lubricate the speedometer head?
I have a 1931 Model A with a noisy speedometer head. It functions fine and the noise comes from the head, not the cable. Is it possible to lubricate it or is this a job best left for professionals?

Re: My generator has lost it's mind
There appear to have been two different problems. One was a very slight misalignment of the output brush with the commutator, resulting in slightly low generator output. This, combined with a cutout...

Re: My generator has lost it's mind
I have a stock cutout without a diode.
Upon startup, it has a slight discharge. Once I connect the terminals momentarily, it will begin charging normally, even if I shut the vehicle off and...

My generator has lost it's mind
My long style generator has suddenly started needing to be "re-polarized" each morning in order to charge. Brushes, battery, wiring and ammeter are all fresh. I use a stock style cutout. The...

Re: door bumper rubber installation
I recently did the same procedure on a 1931 Coupe. I had to trim the flat side of the rubbers about 1/16 of an inch each to allow the brass part to fit within them. The tabs on the brass piece fit...
