My question is how much force is required to install the new gear on the camshaft? Any precautions?

As the title says, I am looking for advise on installing the new gear on the camshaft of my Model A. Pressed on, tapped on?

Re: Cut-out

I am sure others will answer this better, but I will give it a shot. The cutout determines the generator voltage at which the battery begins to "get a charge". It also prevents the power from the...

Re: Is there enough room to pull the light rod?

Not enough room in a coupe to extract the light rod without taking the column out

Re: timing with a B cam grind

No, the cover does not need to be changed. I would suggest that you carefully go over the timing procedure, which has been covered many times on this forum (do a search) and you will find the...

Re: original engine service instructions

Do not flush the engine as the dipper tray will retain some kerosene, thereby thinning out the fresh oil

Re: Float a Motor Front Motor Mount

Yes, bolt the mount to the engine, being careful to not lift the engine any further than necessary to avoid damaging the bellhousing. Then set it down in order to establish the hole positions....

Re: Indented Firewall - After market carb, fuel valve, bowl

Welcome to the Fordbarn! I agree with the idea of optimizing what you already have and, if you desire, begin the search for original parts. That way, you can enjoy the car in the meantime.
I have a...

Re: Exhaust Manifold

I wonder if one could remove the nuts and washers, there by gaining enough thread to "double nut" the studs in order to remove them. It just might work.

Re: Somewhat confused by what I saw on weebay

My guess is there is one picture of another car that got mixed in by accident. That is no right side of a Model A engine, but I don't know what it is.

Re: Easy way to lubricate a speedo cable?

I am not sure why no one has suggested "Speedometer Cable Lube". It is a little hard to remove from your hands, but some latex gloves cures that, and it is not affected by cold weather operation.

Re: troubleshooting strater noise

No, there is no possibility of an oil leak with the starter removed. Don't forget to hook the battery cable back up to the wire to the terminal box, so that you have ignition power.

Re: Is it possible to lubricate the speedometer head?

Well, I just waded right in and removed the dash and Waltham speedometer. A little careful prying and the bezel came off. A single screw on the backside allowed the mechanism to be removed from the...

Is it possible to lubricate the speedometer head?

I have a 1931 Model A with a noisy speedometer head. It functions fine and the noise comes from the head, not the cable. Is it possible to lubricate it or is this a job best left for professionals?

Re: Thermostat or No Thermostat

The thermostat only determines the minimum temp, not the max, unless it is stuck shut.

Re: My generator has lost it's mind

There appear to have been two different problems. One was a very slight misalignment of the output brush with the commutator, resulting in slightly low generator output. This, combined with a cutout...

Re: door bumper rubber installation

I recently did the same procedure on a 1931 Coupe. I had to trim the flat side of the rubbers about 1/16 of an inch each to allow the brass part to fit within them. The tabs on the brass piece fit...
