Re: Horn Rebuild

Is it a Sparton horn? There are excellent rebuild videos on youtube. If you need to rewind the copper I would get a professional unless you have great skills I don't possess.

Re: Paint problem

Well Russ, step 1, cuss - check. Step 2, photo and post - check. Step 3, allot time, grab wrench, remove fender, call buddy, deliver fender, wait, wait, pray, wait.
Step 4, pay buddy lots of cash...

Re: Paint problem

As a military trained airframe/powertrain repair (Helicopters 1970's) I understand what caused the problem. I also understand that after nine years, all bets are off with a guarantee on the paint...

Paint problem

I walked into the garage and saw a large flake of paint next to the front tire. I saw there were other large flakes hanging down. I pulled and all the paint fell from the underside of the fender. ...

Re: Nice Bill Brauch family (MAFCA, A of the Day) 1936 photo

I have scratches on my fender where kids have mis-stepped getting into the rumble seat. I think I will consider putting in a pad for the step. Rubber would work best but leather may look better. ...

Re: AA mail truck

I noticed (like Vern did) that this is a right hand drive. The guy in the cab is certainly behind the steering wheel. Great photo.

Re: Which Carb is best, and why?

I don't know the others cause I work on the Zenith 1 (came with the car).

I dare not go into Holly carbs or other muscle machine juice producers.

Re: What are you doing with your A this winter?

I will be cranking and rolling into town (9 miles) for the weekly ride. Did the routine check of tire pressure, oil level, water and vermin escaping the cold weather. If the Good Lord's willing and...

Re: What's Your Preference: Restored, Original, Modified, Rod?

Good question Larry. The car in my photo belonged to a deceased friend. He (dictated in his will) and his family allow me the honor as "care taker". The paint was his idea to show at University of...

Re: What's Your Preference: Restored, Original, Modified, Rod?

I have to go with a restored original. That is what I know best (in a Model A), but love the workings of an original auto that runs and maintains all the designs of it's day (even if new or...

Re: because of the model A

I must step in and defend the Model A on this issue. Working on and driving a car that "makes you participate" with your whole body is not bad for your continued physical movement. Modern vehicles...

Re: Model A Roof Insulation

I agree with a breathable material for an insulator. The heat from inside of the vehicle will rise to the roof and be trapped in the car thus holding moisture as it condensates on the cold exterior...

Re: Cork or Paper

I read many of the reviews of cork verses the cork/rubber composite materials. I find the cork/rubber more stable under pressure and against more chemicals. I looked at the paper gasket materials...

Re: Firestone or Goodyear??

I knew the answer but that referred to a 1968 Nova when I was stupid enough to drive to drag strip, change the tires, race in street stock, change the tires and drive home. I was young and dumb...

Re: Pickup tailgate rivet question

I believe the two rivets are an improvement to the wrap around hinge point. Strength would be given after continued use if weight is placed and the tailgate used as a shelf. Farmer selling produce...

Re: Brakes

I have enjoyed reading the posts here. I think adjusting the "brake adjustment board" with a shorter first notch will give equal braking tension on all four wheels at once. I like the rear slowing...

Re: Help. What size gear shift knob insert do I need?

I once took a chrome "T" Holly shift handle and put it on a 68 Ford Mustang floor stick. I used two part epoxy for a filler and inserted a screw the same size (thread count and length) into the...

Re: Car cover

The cover did not come with mirror pockets. There was extra material at the point where the mirrors are located. It would be easy to stitch around and create a pocket but that was not done. It is...

Re: Car cover

I have the car cover mentioned. I attest to the quality. It is even semi-water resistance. I like there is the word FRONT stenciled on the inside of the cover. Makes an idiot like me get the car...

Re: Model A Blues/Rockabilly Songs

Pontiac by Lyle Lovett. A bit slow and melancholy but fits men with a past and times alone in their cars.

Re: Birthday Party

Would 100 proof vodka be considered too much grain alcohol for a birthday? I'd think she'd need a ride to burn the extra juice out of her system.
