Wal-Mart has a good charger. 6 and 12 volt with a battery maintainer and will charge Optimo batteries, Was originally a Shumacher brand but now has a Wal-mart label.

You can get a decent Digital Volt Meter from E-Bay for around $3. It only has one setting so you cant make a mistake. I use it as a Volt meter to check the charging system also.

Wal Mart has a good charger and battery maintainer for 15 dollars. Is now a Wal Mart branded item but used to be Schaurer (sp?)

I had the same thing happen to me that MR DROLSTON spoke about. Mine was corroded and the contact spring and needed to be cleaned off.
