Install a pencil filter...should keep any particles from entering the shutoff valve.

Gasket sealants are like glue, make subsequent disassembly difficult and leave a hard residue that must be scraped off the mating surfaces. Don't use sealant!

6.57 volts is too low for charge condition. The regulator needs to be set to 7.2 volts.

As long as you can lock up all 4 wheels when braking, either system is acceptable.

I use both rubbing compound or polishing compound...depending on the painted area. Polishing compound is more gentle.

Recently bought some 6 volt 1129 LED bulbs for my '41 p-u brake lights. Was disappointed because I don't see any improvement in lumens compared to the incandescent bulbs.
