Can't think it fouled all of the plugs at one time. Sounds like it starved for fuel or lost spark.

With that good of compression either the oil rings are stuck, worn out or cylinder walls still have surface rust and the oil coming by the oil rings helps on compression. I too would say drive it...

Just wondering, being you have the intake off and put it on top dead center (not sure how to be sure it is exactly on TDC) exhaust stroke you should be able rock the crankshaft one way then the...

Last resort have your local wood worker make you one out of wood ( Let him chose which works best for the application ). They work great!

Its possible for the wire feed welder to search for grounds, thus it could have cooked your coil. Probably not but I know on a different setup, it will kill motorcycle coils where a flywheel magnets...

The thing I wondered is the amount of blowby the engine has, as a compression test may show good if only the oil rings are stuck?
