Maybe water in cyl, but up here if it was water it would have frozen in cyl and caused damage. I’ll have to pull the pan and check that rod. #6 I believe. Seems it would have bent that one.

This is the passenger side head off of the industrial engine I have. Severe damage on the casting, but absolutely no damage to the cylinder or the piston. Just trying to figure out what happened...

I would guess if you had to have a rear sump pan, then you might want it, but I’ve seen rear sump pans on...

I tried to find my Loctite before putting it in, but I have no idea where it is.
I’m thinking I’m gonna pull it back out and drill a hole through the head.

I just put the pump in with original bolt/ new lock washer. Then I got to thinking about all the ones Iíve seen with a a hole for the wire. This one does not have it, but I torqued it down to specs. ...

Old repair on a block I have. Cracked in same spot, pinned, sleeved & new seat. Of course later it got moisture in block from sitting outside for many years.

Agreed, it is really easy to remove the entire assy, and less painful to do it out from under the car!
