I agree and setup my squish clearance to be .040 on most engines. If you have bores that are a bit worn and maybe more piston to cylinder wall clearance than "normal", then you need to account for...

In addition, the stock steering arms are now higher - which may cause a drag link or tie-rod clearance issue. (the issue you talk about up above)

Good point - I forgot about the 'stretched' versions . . . kind of like a piece of carnival taffy. FWIW, I've never liked the stretched look - and the amount of stretch I see on some axles makes...

Well, the duration is the same for both 220 degrees at .050 -- the 77B only lifts about .325, while I believe the 248F lifts .350. When I sent to Schneider's site - they showed two different lift...

As almost all flywheels use a "shoulder bolt" - you probably have shoulder bolts where the shoulder section is too long. I would take the pressure plate back off and check the bolts and the holes...

You want it to drag a bit - otherwise the timing can "flop around" a bit. I tighten it down until I just feel it start to drag.

I have Bendix/Lincoln style brakes and new MT drums front and rear on my 32 - they work really well and the conversion "kit" I bought from the Early V8 Garage (Dennis Lacy) was one of the best...

I use John Deere Corn Head Grease . . . is almost like a thick out and it is wonderful in our early steering boxes! If you want a picture of the 'tube' - can take one when I'm out in my shop later...

Yes - that is my general idea here . . . but this is bench racing, have not compared both blocks up close and personal (though I have both sitting in my shop).

Yes - though the coolant passages in the head/block for 49-53 are such that the water volume is at the back . . . the 59X gaskets and heads are the same front and rear.
