Took about 20...

Re: 50 Car Differential Question

The axles were a notorious weak spot. I lost 2 at different occasions many miles from home. One occurrence was on our way from Oregon to Detroit Lakes up in your neck of the woods. Very lucky to find...

Re: 8ba rod bearing problem

Precisely my point (distant past), customer request or "saving some wear on his grinding wheels" is a patch job.

Eyeballing a "polish" on a crank without measuring it is not something a reputable...

Re: Flywheel / Clutch Tips 8BA

A case of buyer beware. If we are going to be in this hobby it's up to us to dot our "I"s and cross our "T"s. A lot of junk being sold to us out there

This spring I just bought a complete package...

Re: Oil Detergent - Rislone ZDDP

Re: need my transmission rebuilt

X2, Chap. The most difficult part about rebuilding an early Ford tranny is locating parts. I just did the T-10 in the '49 this spring and even those parts are starting to get hard to come by.
There...

Re: 53 with automatic

The original Ford-O-Matic, while capable of three forward speeds, started out in second and shifted to third, with first only being used when selecting L on the gear shift column.

HOWEVER; if...

Re: 53 with automatic

Friend of mine has a C-4 in his. Much better reliability and 3 gears make it able to keep the rpm in ranges the flatty likes. With an auto rear end gear set makes a real nice cruiser.
He cools his...

Re: STREET MACHInES, Engines, gearing and etc

Well spoken, for sheer drivability a 4 speed or a 5 speed were made for the flathead. I put a T-10 and a Granada [Ford] automatic rear in 25 years ago, long before many had thought about the...

Quite frankly I'm appalled at some of the irresponsible comments in this thread. It isn't just about "me me me", it reflects on all of us.

Endangering the lives of your fellow old car enthusiasts...

Re: 40 engine temperature drop by 20 degrees
