Re: Powder Coat Removal??

If it was a good job with powder primer, and epoxy powder, just sand it and paint it with whatever color you want. If it was just sandblasted and coated without primer and cheap styrene powder, then...

Re: Power steering pump on a flathead

Merc Cruizer, Thanks. 30 years ago I had a 53 Merc with power steering and a MercOmatic but I don't remamber anything about the pump or where it mounted, or what it even looked like. At the top of...

Re: 48-6044 Rod, engine radius purpose.

Ford called them "engine stay rods" as they keep the rear end and t-tube from shoving the engine forward. They were discontinued when they went to open drivelines. 8BAs do not have a place for them...

Re: Underhood carnage on my F-1

Yeah, a friend of mine with a 54 Y block had a blade come off and exit the hood. I NEVER stand in line with a spinning fan. They do work harden and break as theorized above. My 40s both have NOS...

Re: How to remove distributor caps 1936

What transbytip said. I was going to write the same thing. I use a piece of wood dowel to tap one side out from the coil opening then go in from the removed side straight across and tap the other...

Re: Flathead repair

Could be the resistor wire is broken but making contact, heats up and gets intermittent. Try hotwiring the car to the coil and see if it continues to run with no missing.

Re: 81ís tri power or dual 97ís

I am running 2 81s on an old Eddie Meyer manifold and am quite happy with them. I'm sure you could get 3 to run very well.

Re: Wide 5 Artillery Wheels

Be aware that if you use a drum newer then 35, you will need an adapter to safely run the wire wheels due to the lug area of the wheel . It is actually a couple of rings and in the old days they...

Re: What Car Skates work best?

I have a trick for you guys with the cheap HF skates. I have 4 sets of them as well as an expensive set of GoJacks that I got at an estate sale (for a lot less then the new price). I love the...

Re: Stick On Windshield Antenna For A 40

As long as it isn't grounded and is connected to the inside of the special nut--it should work. A piece of coathanger would work if not grounded.

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

I am not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination. Most of my cars I got in the 70s as ones too bad or incomplete for others to attempt to save. I had to hammer weld 10" all the way around my...

Re: Sand washers for head studs

I can think of no good reason you would sand washers unless you wanted them thinner.

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

What year did the safety bead become standard on wheels? I will ask him what year the wheels were. I am not sure what that looks like, the stock 55 chev wheels that I took off my Brand X...

Re: 40 Ford DLX antenna

I don't recall cutting anything on the antenna. One part slides inside of the other, maybe that is making it seem too long. There is also a spring in there that might be too long.
There is half a...

Re: 40 Ford DLX antenna

What do you mean by "dash antenna"? IF you mean the stock antenna that comes down from the header to the radio, then yes, I have one in my 40 Woodie. Probably pictures in my 40 Woodie album that...

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

A bones, If making people aware of what old tires can do prevents 1 loss or tragedy, then I am happy. I used to be the designated safety person for the 21s floor of a high rise in Seattle and the...
