Re: The Ron Thorne Collection

Rock, I drove a tan '37 Ford Club Coupe. There were several of us from the California Bay Area that year. It was a great meet (actually all of them are great fun).

Re: 1941 Ford Open Drive Conversion

Yes it is strong enough. I've been around this stuff for a long time and I've yet to see a failure of the Ford frame using a parallel leaf spring kit. Manufacturers put a lot of engineering into what...

Re: 1940 headlight hardware

I second Roger's suggestion on the 41 pickup parking lenses.vI always use the 41 pickup parking lenses. They fit in both the standard and deluxe headlight doors. I use the Drake turn signal kit and...

Re: Rear tube shock conversion

You are correct about the about the boxed crossmember. I have used a hole saw and put an access hole in the crossmember and you can get a nut in there to fasten the shock stud. The access hole does...

Re: The Ron Thorne Collection

I saw the complete collection in '05 also . Ron hosted a BBQ at his place for the V-8ers attending the Western National Meet. A very impressive collection and most cars were original and not...

Re: Rear tube shock conversion

The lower brackets can be bought new from a company called Pure Hotrods in Illinois. The upper brackets can simply be a regular shock stud that can be found at many parts stores or if you want a...

Re: Early 30s gas station

Those were the days when you actually got service. They checked the oil, radiator, tire pressure and washed the windshield. Now and then you were asked to check the master cylinder which was a real...

Re: The Early Ford V8 Club of America - Application Form.

Pat, since you reside in NW Indiana you might want to take a ride over to Auburn, Indiana and visit the Early Ford V-8 Foundation Museum. Lots of great stuff to see at the museum.

Re: 36-39 frame brackets

John, those damaged brackets show there are bad muffler shops vs good muffler shops.

Re: What year is this advertisement

I think 1933 also due to the changes made to the 4 banger. Another interpretation could be "New Fords, V-8 (which was new) and "new 4" which was an improvement over the Model A 4 banger, so may also...

Re: 41 ford car stock gas tank sending unit - recommendation

I bought a Drake tank sometime back and it had two sets of holes for the sender. One set was for the original sender and the other for a late sender. Does your new tank have both sets of holes? If...

Re: 47 Flathead gas in oil

When is the last time you changed the carb or pump? If it has been a long time or maybe you have never done it, I would do both. My first suspicion is the power valve in the carb.

Re: Will it still have to be moved?

Since you have multiple issues I would remove the grille and radiator and take out the motor and trans as one unit. Your low oil pressure may have more problems than just replacing the pump. Has the...

Re: 1954 Ford F1 Power Steering Conversion

Check with Sacramento Vintage Ford. As I recall they have a kit that puts a Toyota pickup power box in the F-100. I suspect you could also use an electric unit from a later car.
