Re: Distributor vacuum brake question

Re: disc brakes & distributor

Too late. I got all my brakes and drums from Speedway over a year ago. No problem except those old Lockheed ones on the back.

Re: disc brakes & distributor

Great post above. I am running the Bendix setup in front and stock Lockheed on the rear as you mention. I am not totally happy with the Lockheeds though because I could never figure out how to...

Re: Barrett Jackson

In most cases, you won't make money doing this either because it costs too much to build. Nice original muscle cars are bring bigger dollars like Mopars, Cobras, Corvettes and Mustang big block...

Re: Barrett Jackson

Especially the younger crowd is more in to performance cars. Old Fords are not the hot ticket anymore unless they are "built". It's only the old guys like some of us.

Re: fuel pump kit

Yea but what about the rest of the kit? There is more to a pump than the diaphragm.

Re: Why do Flathead V8 Blocks Crack?

The problem is exhaust gas is routed up and then does a u turn out the side of the block. The problem is the head functions are in the block instead of the head itself. Think about all the heads on...

Re: What Electric Pump do you recommend?

I ordered an Airtex from E Bay and they said they couldn't ship to CA because of some dumb law. Amazon said the same when I tried to order from them. Rock Auto was a go though. Already on its way,...

Re: What Electric Pump do you recommend?

Do they sell the Mr. Gasket for 6v + ground? Is there a Made in USA 6 volt electric fuel pump, externally mounted?

Re: 40 Heater recore??

You don't want to get one from backorder Bob. It would end up being Chinese. Better to get original re-cored.

Re: Oil pump p/up to pan clearance

Put the pan on without the gasket. Strike the bottom of the pan to adjust pickup. Now put the gasket in. Perfect clearance.

Re: cooper tires

I especially like the blackwall Cooper tires on antique cars because they make them with smooth sidewalls without all that design work imprinted like most modern blackwalls. I am running them on my...

Re: Can't find thread on distributor timing

Why is timing an issue? I just set up the points, make sure the advance is working and set the tab on zero on the Sun 504 machine. After installation, I advance it all the way on the tab and listen...

Re: cooper tires

I am running Hankook Touring tires on my 97 T Birds. They are cheap, wear like iron and are warranted for 90K miles. Never had an issue with any of them except they go wang wang when running down...

Re: Testing Helmet On Sun Machine

When you have a helmet on the Sun machine and remove the coil, are you able to wiggle the breaker plate at all? I can't on mine. Maybe the plates are just fitting too tight?

Re: Testing Helmet On Sun Machine

My question relates to: If it only changed the dwell .8 degrees when you took the coil off/on, who cares? You probably wouldn't move it again anyways. That's probably well within the tolerance of...

Re: coker tires out of round

Those tires are way too old anyway. Take this as a warning from the guy upstairs. You don't need to go back to expensive Cokers either. I am running Cooper radial blackwalls at $97 a piece from...

Re: Testing Helmet On Sun Machine

[QUOTE=35fordtn;1838814]So how do you set initial timing as hoop asked. (Quote).

I just set the timing tag on zero until after I get the dwell set, then advance it 3 notches.
