Re: Highest Reliable Compression Ratio
Camshaft choice I have a story to tell about that. Many years ago I got a phone call from a guy wanting to buy one of my cams. He had a (heavy) fordor, all stock but wanted more power. We talked...

Re: Highest Reliable Compression Ratio
I agree with Brent, plus gas mileage goes up with higher compression. Compression and a bigger carb are the two quickest and easiest ways to more power, cam is next but not near as effective per...

Re: Highest Reliable Compression Ratio
There are some very good answers above! I ran a 7.5:1 Cyclone flathead for years with no problems. Included were several trips from SoCal to Las Vegas to visit Ed Winfield. The engine was a B/C,...

Re: flywheel info
Mine are all in the 30-35 lb. range. The last two I did, I had them drilled for a diaphragm clutch, very smooth!

Re: Will this work
Looks great, but I prefer an in-line circuit breaker. If a fuse is blown, the system is down until it is replaced. A circuit breaker re-sets itself in a few seconds, and may let your lights and/or...

Re: tell a Model A related story
We have a lot of American Indian-named towns here in SoCal, they are sometimes weird but not like those mentioned above! from Jim B in Temecula, CA.

Re: Timing Pin Dimple is not TDC?
With the pin in, and a Model A cover, #1 piston is at TDC, and quite accurately. When the 2 dots on the gears are lined up, it is nowhere near TDC, this may be where the confusion lies??? A model B...

Re: The new Burtz Mosel A engine
Chuck, I doubt if the Burtz crank produces more torque, they are the same stroke. The port design may help, and some engines just run better for no apparent reason. The 5 mains will stabilize the...

Re: Engine knock at cruising speed?
Sounds to me like rods or wrist pins are on the loose side. Any other noises are not usually at the no-load position. 26* with a stock head is well within limits.

Re: upgrade to 1932 brakes?
'32 brakes are 12" as stated above, this gives more surface area. They also have cast iron drums, now a good up-date for A brakes. Better yet are the '35 brakes, they have all the advantages of the...

Re: The new Burtz Mosel A engine
GeneBob, Stipe does nice work. I'll probably run a modified '49-'53 V8 pump, using an adapter built by John Nielson, a sometime contributor on this forum. Terry says the A pump will do the job, and...

Re: Is this normal wear? Aluminum cam gear
There is so much oil flying around in a running Model A engine, stock or pressurized, that I find it hard to believe it's an oiling problem. Don't believe me? Try removing any front cover bolt, and...

Re: Model A Auto Transmission
Art Moore is a paraplegic and has installed a Chrysler 904 in 2 of his A's. The conversion has to be done correctly, but is a very worthwhile project for any handicapped or older person. Art races...

The new Burtz Mosel A engine
Yesterday I was pleased to be invited to a seminar on Terry's new engine. I didn't take a head count but there must have been about 25-30 guys there. It was hosted by Richard Parrish in Anaheim, CA....

Re: Fraud
It is unfortunate that there are such rotten people on this earth. As BAL1962 says, there are still a lot of good people here too. I've been in the cam business since the mid 1970's, and ship them...

Re: Am I allowed to win?
In the last few years I've had the needle and seat stick closed after sitting for several months, same on my Weber side-draft. All that was needed was to tickle the needle, and gas started to flow,...

Re: Model b waterpump
I have a good '32 B core I'll sell you for $40, +shipping. Using the A head would work just fine if you use the A gasket. If those small holes are not causing any problems now, they won't with the...
