Re: My First Model A - Questions
We will be glad to help. I think most here remember going to the used car lot or junkyard to get their start on their hot rod in the '40s and not the factory for a new one. If you enjoy it thats the...

Re: Changing color of frame
Primer is usually for use on bare metal. If the base paint is in good condition I clean and scuff only before top coat. the less build the more solid the job.

Re: Changing color of frame
Just paint it as Krylon32 recommends if you wan't it a different color. You nor the factory needs or did paint things separately.

Re: My First Model A - Questions
Yes, that one is way too nice! as others say you can find one that needs to be one. I wouldn't buy the Mona Lisa and add a hat or ear buds to the canvas.

Re: NOS paint thickness
I once painted my '66 mustang exterior with 2 quarts of Centari paint, 1/2 qt of reducer, with a small amount of hardener added. It was my first enamel job and It covered just fine.

Re: Won't Start when Warmed Up
Maybe it would help better if you poured the cold water over the hot starting motor. I can't see how a hot carb would make it crank over too slowly.

Re: Reamers
Don't know where you live but Places like NAPA and auto & truck repair shops usually can do this type of job. Tire shops like Les Shwab, which are in eastern Oregon should be able to hone bushings...

Re: Headlight Help
Headlight relays put the power closer to the bulbs, with less wire resistance. You can look it up on the net.

Re: pops, slips, drops out of second gear
MARK gears are the best in my opinion next to original Ford ones. I have them in my case and they work well. Even with good new gears the fit on shafts need to be checked during assembly. I had to...

Re: Headlight Help
Don't blind oncoming traffic! Maybe choose your modern car at night. Bratton's has a reflector that mimics the factory ones with a modern permanent reflective surface that gives the best light for...

Re: Clutch chatter solved!
I like the disc on the left, it looks well made with flex center, beefier hub attachment, and caged springs. I'm sure both would work OK. It's great you have a good working clutch.
