Re: New Guy
I would like to offer a suggestion: The 28/29 models have a couple of things to be aware of. First the 28/29 wheel rims are harder to find in good shape. Interior rust out is common. Second, I...

Re: Head light focus with out lens?
I agree Badpuppy: I focused while watching the crispness of the light spot. I went too far in one direction and too far in the other direction then balanced in the mid where I had a very nice crisp...

Jim, I'll try to post pix. It's near zero degrees and salted roads. Car on jacks now for winter storage prep. I may try with a card board about 8 ft ahead of the car. if I can figure how to fit...

Head light focus with out lens?
I thought if I focused my head lights without the lens to make the smallest and round spot that would be a good way to focus. I did this and with the lens replaced, I think I got a reasonably good...

Re: 31 front pully removal replace
Use the bent box end tool as pictured in post #3. They aren't that expensive.
Rest the handle on the frame on the DRIVERS side. Tap the starter as mentioned with ignition off. Just a quick tap.

Re: REAR END RATIO vs MITCHELL OVERDRIVE
I have a Fordor 1930 One of the heavier cars. I have 3.78 rear end and a Mitchell 26% OD. A stock Model A with a 3.78 at 2200 rpm will give you a speed of 50 mph. With the OD 2200 rpm gives you...

Re: Quick Point Gap Setting Tool
RE: post # 8 : by KGBnut
Search " setting point gap without feeler gauge" on this forum and you will find another way to open your points to 20* but I think easier than estimating 5/8 of a...

Re: checking timing
If you cannot feel the pin drop in the dimple as in my case I cannot, there is a fool proof way to determine if you are at TDC.
Use a mirror at about a 45* angle so you can see with a flashlight...

Re: Air Conditioning
I may not have figured it right, but my math told me the it only required about 2-3 hp to run the Ken Davis A/C. I have a 6:1 Snyder head, B carb, and the only indication I get when the compressor...

Re: Mitchell Over Drive 26% or 36%
wmws: your 3.78 rpm to mph is very correct. I do believe though that your 26% OD rpm vs speeds are incorrect. The ratio at 1.26 OD makes the equivalent of a 3.00 rear end ratio. 1000 rpm = 28.6 ...

Re: Mitchell Over Drive 26% or 36%
If your engine is "sky High" over 35 mph or even 50 rpm, something is really amiss. Your rearer end can not be the standard 3.78. At 35 mph with a 3.78 reared ratio, your rpm would only be about...

Re: To much advace on the lever
I made a stop at 28* because I have a 6:1 head. Later I read that with a 5.5:1 head it should be max of 23* and with a 6:1 it should be max 21*. So now I don't know what is best, but I normally set...

Re: How far at 50 MPH
My thinking is that 50 mph is better for engine at cruise than 40 mph cruise. Very smooth running at 50 and you won't be lugging it. That is only 2200 rpm which is the 40 hp rpm.
