Re: Help: Reverse eye leaf spring problem 34 Ford

It is hard to tell from pictures what is going on. My '32-'34 spring looks like the eyes are perpendicular to the spring leaf. There is a slight angle on the spring hanger that is part of the axle....

Re: 1932 serial number starts with D5

Be sure you can find a legitimate number on the frame or door jam that matches the title document or you will have a problem with the DMV. I hope you have seen the serial number with your own eyes,...

Re: "B" on top of Model A Ford cylinder head

Ford came out with a high compression head for the Model A. Originally it was sold to police departments and became known as a Police Head. Later it was released to the general public. In order to...

Re: Please help school me on my model A

The 6049 was the right head and 6050 was the left head. The "40 ' was the year it was first used. That is not to say 1940, "40" was used for parts first used in 1933. The B was a revision to the...

Re: Please help school me on my model A

The number for give for the engine casting is actually the number for the cylinder head which was used 1933-36. There is no number on the basic engine block and it will be necessary to identify it...

Re: How does a DMV registration number come from?

Is there a date stamped on your gas tank? Have you considered lifting your body and looking for the number on the frame?

Re: How does a DMV registration number come from?

Do some research on acid etching to bring out numbers. Like the guys on CSI do to raise the serial numbers on guns that have been removed.

Re: How does a DMV registration number come from?

Also some frame numbers are not readable due to being faintly stamped or rusted. Canadian frames were not numbered. Also, unless they changed, if you take a vehicle in that is registered by the...

Re: How does a DMV registration number come from?

The DMV number is sequntially assigned and does not relate to the original engine number. Here is mine (with the last three numbers blanked out). The original number appears, if readable, on the...

Re: 1932 serial number starts with D5

Is the number stamped into the actual frame and can you post a photo and give the location where it is stamped or is it just on the paperwork? How about a photo of the whole vehicle? It is...

Re: 1932 serial number starts with D5

How about a little more of the number, replacing the last three digits with "XXX" if you are concerned? Asking again, where are you finding this number and how about a picture, again blanking out...

Re: 1932 serial number starts with D5

I have had my '32 since 1969 and am a trivia nut. I have never heard of a D frame. Any chance you could post a picture of the serial number? Where is it located?

Re: 1932 Ford Pin Striping Pattern

Be sure the pin striper doesn't make the stripes too wide. I had that happen and ended up removing them and having them done a second time.

Re: Hubs for new cast drums

I think I would buy hub/drum assemblies from someone like Randy Gross. If you put your general location in your profile maybe someone could recommend a local source.

Re: 12" drums

They were used somewhere between 1932 and 1948. As Mr. Seery said, photos would help.

Re: Engine Blow By or Not

I agree with you. The last design made for the 1932-34 4 cylinder engines was the best.

Re: '28 Model A cranks but won't start.

Does it have a fuze? Power to the starter doesn't go though the fuze.

Re: Front hydraulic brake conversion.

I sure hope you are planning to add hydraulic brakes to the rear axle at the same time. Mixing the two would be a VERY bad idea.

My guess is that your files are too large, how large are they? What kind of computer do you have?
