Re: Zinc anode for radiator
I believe dissimilar metals have to touch to create a reaction. With the exception of the rad cap other metals are isolated from the rad. Correct or no?

Re: '56 Country Sedan Overheating
After some thought . . . I would disconnect the electric fan and see how the temps are without the e-fan.
Also a fresh engine will tend to run a bit hotter during break-in

Re: '56 Country Sedan Overheating
So you have 2 fans - 1 electric and 1 engine driven. It seems like the fans may be working against each other.
Also, as Dobie pointed out the shroud, as is, is not optimal for the engine driven...

Re: '56 Country Sedan Overheating
Pictures of your fan set up could be useful. Is the fan electric or engine driven? if electric push or pull and pls show its location.

Re: Wire Wheel Tires with Radisl tires
FWIW: In my very early autoX days I ran an MGB with wire wheels. They had a thick rubber band over the ends of the spokes. It fit pretty tight and I never had a problem with it.
I also ran radial...

Re: 71 LTD Info Wanted
Re the 400 for my 55. I found a chart listing dimensions for various Ford V8 engines. Vs the 289/302 the 400 is wider x 2", taller x 1.5", and heavier by 100+ lbs.
Having seen that the shorty...

Re: 71 LTD Info Wanted
OK, now you done got me thinkin damn it. My “plan” for my 55 is to swap in a SBF (302 or 351). But now I’m wondering would the 400 be a good idea?
The first questions that come to mind are . . ....

My mom had a 73 LTD for a while I don't recall which engine it had. It was a nice comfortable ride.

71 LTD Info Wanted
Does anyone here have a parts diagram (hopefully with part numbers) of the front suspension and brakes for a 1971 LTD? I Googled but didn’t find.
Also, is there any monetary value to a 400 CiD SBF...

Headers For A 55 With An SBF
I’m slowly assembling the parts I’ll need to eventually swap a 302 (or at least a SBF) into my 55. I’ve been keeping my eye out for a good set of used headers; there seem to be plenty around. I’ve...

Re: 55 Customline Disc Advise
I'm going to have to find another donor - someone grabbed the brakes already. I did get the master, vac booster and prop valve. The Comet has a pretty small booster btw.
I think I'll need the...

Re: 55 Customline Disc Advise
You are correct about the Monarch and the Versailles being equivalent. But the Comet/Maverick also shared the same chassis/parts in the mid 70s.

I don't want to depend on a wrecking yard's car balancing act. I also brought along a small bottle jack to help with the job.

Re: 55 Customline Disc Advise
I've done a lot of research on the disc swaps and know about the wheels and some other quirks. I'll be using bigger wheels.
The springs on my 55 are pretty done. So measuring would be useless....

Tomorrow I'll head over to pull the parts off. I'll be taking the spindle...
