Re: Installing Battery Disconnect Switch in 1931 Coupe

Joop,
I did mine just like the picture that 29er suggested. One other thing I did was to build a small wooden box around the back of the switch. I carry stuff (jack, crank, tools, etc.) under the...

Parking brake adjustment?

My parking brake on my '30 town sedan holds O.K. on a flat surface but not so good on my slightly sloped driveway. Is there any adjustment on the parking brake? Is shortening the brake rods an...

Re: Thoughts on Hershey

Several years ago I went to Hershey with a friend. Had a great time and only bought a radiator cap gasket for my model A. (I think I paid .85 for it) When I got home I showed my purchase to my wife,...

Re: Trouble shifting into 2nd or 3rd- BUT.. Unique situation

I had the same problem. It turns out that the 1/2 inch round ball on the bottom of the shifter was actually a 1/2 inch square cube. A Model A friend welded the cube round again and ground it to 1/2...

Re: Spark Starter

Charley,
Thanks for the help. A few of us have looked this gadget over and think maybe there are parts missing. Glad I don't have a lot in it. One of my friends thinks maybe the box is worth...

Snyder's carries a gadget called a "Sparky start" that seems to do the same thing that my device does. I called Snyder's this morning and explained what I have and they said they would look at one...

J,
That's what it looks like to me. The box says "Copyright 1930", but there are no directions with it. It's not a big deal, I only paid two bucks for it.

Spark Starter

Last weekend I bought a Spark Starter at a garage sale. It was made by Saunders - Allen Company from Memphis, Tenn. It's in the original box (well most of the box) and it says "For Model A Ford." The...

Weight of a usable wheel?

I picked up a 19 inch wheel and tire this weekend. The tire was shot but the wheel is really straight. It's rusty, but I think it can be blasted and painted for use. I heard that there is a certain...

Re: squeaky brakes

The brake shoes are the standard woven with the metal in them and we have already chamfered the shoes. I think WHN has it right, they're just old bones talking. I know my old bones talk to me...

squeaky brakes

There are a couple of us in our "A Team" that seem to have squeaks in our brakes. I have one drum (right front) that only squeaks when I'm going backwards. One of our guys, after much work and...

Re: Play in water pump shaft

bigd1101,
If you are going to pull the old water pump without removing the radiator, cut a piece of heavy cardboard to cover the engine side of the radiator. When the pump pops out it could...

Re: Old Gas

I've not had any problems, in the past 25 years, with stale gas over the winter, but reading your posts makes me nervous. What is my best protection? Does Sta-bil do the job?
