So, for those of us who don't have the service bulletins, what do they say? I have the same problem with my special coupe. In fact I'm trying to sell it so I can buy a sedan because it's so hard for...

1929 Rmble Seat Special Coupe Driver

This 1929 Special Rumble Seat Coupe was found in a garage last year after sitting for 40 years. I put in a complete new wiring harness, new rear brakes (the fronts were fine), new tires, new battery,...

Re: Carb leak ?

A model A float is not like most floats.... you don't adjust them by bending the arm. You have to adjust the float level by adding or removing gaskets to the float valve.

Leaking is a COMMON...

Re: Confirmed, VIN problem that has always bothered me. What would you do?

I like this response the best. :-)

I bought a car in Florida that had a title from Pennsylvania 40 years old. The vin on the title was not even like any other vin number. It was apparently...

Re: Carburetor Float valves

Mike from Mike's A Fordable parts called me today. He said he has been in contact with other parts retailers and they are seeing the same problems with the Viton float valves. He also said they are...

Re: Nu Rex breaker plate points problem.

That's what I did as well; bent the tab and added shrink tube. We all know how tape unravels after a while. One thing I didn't understand was why they said to screw the contact cable in only a couple...

Re: Carburetor Float valves

Yesterday I talked with Mike at Mike's A Fordable Parts about he problem I've been having with the Viton float valves. Nice Chap.

He said that he hasn't heard of problems with these, but I...

Re: lutch Chatter

I tried the tree method today. My wife thought I had finally gone over the edge, but it worked. Substantial improvement.

Re: Timing indicators, do you use them?

I have found it's quite easy to set TDC by removing the #1 spark plug and looking in the hole with a small bright flashlight. You can see the piston come up while turning the hand crank. Stop just...

Re: Nu Rex breaker plate points problem.

Be sure the little brass clip that came attached to the points on the new style upper plate has been removed. It's for use with a different lower plate that has a brass plate for picking up the...

Re: Zenith LEAKS after rebuild

Welcome to the club! This is a common problem. We've had some good discussions about it lately. I've been chasing the same thing for weeks. Look back at old threads like the one that I started titled...

Re: Carburetor Float valves

The two pieces come as an assembly. It's difficult to even take them apart if you want to lap them.

I'm pretty sure it's the valve assembly that's leaking, not the gasket. At one of the times when...

Carburetor Float valves

Would I be more apt to get a valve that doesn't leak if I tried a Grose style float valve instead of the Viton tipped ones? I've gotten two of the Viton ones from Mike's A Fordable Parts and they...

TinCup, thanks for posting that link. That animation is fantastic. So are Tom Endy's two articles. I've saved them all for future reference.

Here's a link to an exceptional collection of information on anything related to the Zenith carburetor. I wish I had found it before trying to learn a lot of it the hard way.

Engine quit ------ Condenser overheated

Someone told me about this problem when I first got my model ďAĒ. They said that if the car just quit for what seemed like no reason it might be the condenser had overheated.

It happened to me...

Re: Leaking Zenith Carburetor

Tom Endy, I saw your glass test stand in that excellent article you did on rebuilding the Zenith carb. I'm going to give the easy clear tubing rig a try to see what the fuel level looks like in the...

Re: Leaking Zenith Carburetor

1930 Coupe, you must be clairvoyant. I was lying in bed this morning before getting up thinking about why adding a washer to the float valve worked this time when I tried it. I was wondering if...

Re: Leaking Zenith Carburetor

Re: Leaking Zenith Carburetor

Sparky, I really like that fuel level gauge. I'm going to make one if I can find the right fitting for the drain port. If not I'll buy one the next time I order some parts. thank you for posting.

Re: Leaking Zenith Carburetor

Addendum: The saga continues. All is not as well as I thought. Thereís still a leak. The new tank valve did stop the leak when it is turned off, but not when itís left on. At least Iím seeing some...

Re: Leaking Zenith Carburetor

Katy, yes, I checked the float level numerous times, and did try setting it lower. Even that didnít work. I knew what was causing the leak, the float valve not holding, but I couldnít figure out why....
