Re: Four ring piston?
I had those in a rebuilt from Sears. Made by Sterling I believe. One of mine broke upon disassembly so I had to get a regular set. One of the gurus around here told me to leave the fourth groove...

Re: Bad rod bearing
I have done it. Required removing the pan and head. You will need a ring compressor to get the piston back in. I tried doing everything through the bottom at first but i couldn't get enough room to...

Re: DIY Windlace
I did. I used Nylon rope for the core. It bends the corners much easier than rubber or foam. I used a zipper foot on my sewing machine and just took my time.

Re: Distributor Body Rocking??
I used a very small amount of electrical tape on the tab of the distributor to tighten the fit . I had the same problem. I also used a thin strip of tape around the body to tighten it up.

Re: Marvel vs Model B carb?
Is there any benefit to running the Marvel with a model B intake vs a model a intake. Or is there any benefit to drilling out the model A intake if you are still using the Marvel Carb? Sorry to...

Re: Current BEST TIRES for daily driver?
I absolutely hate my Universals. 21". They slide at the drop of a hat and I don't dare drive in the rain. I have about 10k miles on them and cannot wait to replace them. I drive it almost every day...

Re: Has Anyone Ever Found an Abandoned Model "A"
I had some property being mined a few years back. I was talking to the foreman on the phone and he said they found four model A cars when they drained a lake. I was halfway out the door to race down...

Re: Checking rod and main bearings
I adjust the shims in my rods every 10k miles. This last go around I found a bad babbitt job on rod 2 that required replacing the rod. I know its not kosher ( balanced rods and stuff) but its running...

Re: New guy seeking advice
I started with the same idea. I do drive mine probably 60 to 75% of the time. Be prepared to learn a lot of do it yourself work. For example, the original engine was good to get 40k miles out of it...

Tennessee issued me a vin on a decal. I would have preferred something a lot more permanent, but beggars cant be choosers.

Fuel/Natchez Trace
I am the preliminary stages of planning a Natchez Trace trip. For those of you who have done it, was fuel an issue? Did you carry a Jerrycan. If so, where is the safest place to carry one. I would...

Re: Modern post manufacture shock absorbers
I have that setup and hate it. I should be wearing kidney belts driving the thing. I keep thinking I will get used to them, but have not yet. Changing them is on the list but other things are first.

Re: 2018 Miles
I spent a little over two months with the engine apart. Other than that I drive year round four or five days a week. Probably 5 thousand miles this year.

Read up on the modern shocks. Make sure to get the ones with the best reviews. I cheaped out and it rides like a mule wagon.

Re: How to replace the intake manifold
I'm on my fourth exhaust gasket set, second manifold set. I get the copper gaskets. This is the first time I have used the gland rings and they have made a big difference on my setup.
