Re: Spectator drive thru car show

A spectator view of some of the cars (and perhaps a few 'shady' characters)
Looked to be about 10% (if that) of the normal attendance for this show.

Signs of the times.

Re: edlebrock 4 barrel manifold broken bolt

Can't say about the pre- 8BA's but all the 8BA's I have seen have the 4 deg. angle.

Re: edlebrock 4 barrel manifold broken bolt

If that is a view of the drivers side of the manifold and it's not a distorted view, the carb mount surface is backwards of what it should be and the angle does not look right.
Looks more like it...

Re: Oil pressure with remote oil fllter

You obviously have a screw on filter adapter.
Make sure that the inlet and outlet ports on the adapter go to the correct ports on the engine.

Re: Oil pressure with remote oil fllter

With a 95% system you should NOT have a restriction hole anywhere in the system.

Spectator drive thru car show

This is how a local organization is going to put on it's annual car show this year due to the Covid 19 situation.

Re: Engine stops when it is hot

Check the ignition resistor for proper function.

Re: starter solinoid

Normally any (if) needed ground will occur between the screws and the bare metal solenoid case.
After installation check continuity between solenoid case and engine.

Re: E 3 spark plugs

You probably have to use 18mm to 14mm adapters and then find the correct 14mm plug with the correct reach.

Re: E 3 spark plugs

When I installed a set of E-3's in my flathead, I was never expecting to see much, if any, improvements in performance.
The only thing noticeable was improved starting.
There may or may not have...

Re: 8BA fuel pump pushrod diameter

They will not work because they are too short.

Re: 8BA fuel pump pushrod diameter

Yep, several years ago because of the perceived looseness in the bushing I ordered a new bushing only to find out that it was no better than the original one.

Re: Flathead Fall Nationals

Ya, I was thinking about it but I have only one (1) throttle return spring and can,t afford the second one, so they won"t let me run. :D

Re: 8BA fuel pump pushrod diameter

The pushrods are 7/16 " dia. Unless you can get definitive dimensions on the bushing and the pushrod to get actual clearance, looseness is just a matter of perception.
Don't over think it.

Re: E 3 spark plugs

Been using E3-10 plugs for a few years now.
They are stubby plugs with about a 1/16" shorter reach than standard H-10's but the protrusion into the chamber is virtually identical.
Main difference I...

Re: spark plug wire set

If you are not interested in wire that is colored or has graphics then Pertonix spiral wound (PN 708190) is the stock looking, stock diameter, 7MM wire that I used.

Re: Anyone use these drill/tap all in one?

Doubt that it will work as a 1/4" material is max capacity.

Re: Oil Filter Info. Needed

The only problem would have been a buildup of pressure in the canister that presented a gasket sealing problem on the cover.
Those systems worked as intended for a number of years.

Re: Oil Filter Info. Needed

Then this is apparently the way the early filters were designed, the one hole in the return tube is the restrictor and should be good to go.
The later filter design was an apparent effort to reduce...

Re: installing engine

Sounds like you have to inspect to see if the clutch disk is compatible with the transmission spline and even if it is located correctly on the flywheel.

Re: Thread - I screwed up

Sure looks like (according to the article) that locating the temperature switch/probe in the bottom (cold side) of the radiator is the wrong thing to do.
The only exception is if it were a reverse...

Re: Remote oil filter. Help!

I confess, I was the one who determined the 5 Qts. in 11 minutes thru the filter.
These were the conditions in which the test was done.
A tube with a shutoff valve was attached to the outlet of the...
