Re: Source for epoxy-filled 6 volt coil ?

Seems like everyone is on the hunt for something that didn't even exist for a useful purpose until the 1940's (epoxy). How did people get by for the previous 12 years, if a 90 year old coil is good...

Re: 1929 tailpipe clamp picture

I think the tech writer (or whatever they were called back then) had nothing better to do and got it wrong and on top of that I disagree with drilling extra holes in the frame. Common sense...

Re: steering box mounting frame holes

I agree. Maybe check the NAS bolt dimensions - there may be one with a closer shank length that is needed than the AN bolts. I am not sure of the sector shaft flange thickness but the AN7-10 bolt...

Re: Car Will Not Start--No Apparent Spark

Thanks all for the responses. Got it running by jumping the ammeter. I guess the ammeter is often missed as it is not really emphasized in all the trouble shooting procedures. I did not consider...

Re: engine won't run

Crossed my mind but I am getting a nice blue/white spark from each spark plug. BTW, This exact same problem existed when I was running a Mallory centrifugal distributor, which I replaced with...

engine won't run

I have a Weber 2 barrel downdraft. The engine ran good and will not start now. It will fire for a couple seconds with starter fluid and that's it. I have checked every thing with the ignition...

Re: Exhaust Manifold to Tailpipe gasket

No one mentioned this, but make sure the rear tail pipe hanger is loose and allows the whole works to slide back and forth and rotate. I remove it and suspend the tail pipe with wire until after the...

Re: B Distributor Initial Timing

This may be off topic, but how do I set up a Mallory distributor? The timing cover appears to be the same as an A cover and the Mallory advance appears to be the same as a B distributor. The...

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

Both buyers bought a pile of parts which I don't believe either pile will have a title, at the end of the day piles of parts aren't titled. MHO

Re: Model A Distributor with Centrifugal Advance

This is a straight away drop in, however, Mallory has been bought out several times and the 4 cylinder distributor parts are extremely hard to find.

Got it now. The link answered my question. With out taking the distributor apart it appears that the shaft is solid between the drive and the cam. Thanks.

Re: New pitman arm too loose

So, did the vender say it was forged? If so that would give peace of mind that really torqueing the bolt won't hurt the arm or set it up for a future stress crack.

Re: New pitman arm too loose

This is something that needs to be verified to see if it is forged. I read somewhere that the model A has over 150 forgings. If it is forged lay into it with the vice, it won't break.
