Re: Tips for shorter drivers

I've lost over 4 1/2 " in height over the last 10 years. Biggest annoyance was the starter. Reworked starter to a stud with a solenoid start button. Lowered rearview mirror, raised the seat, in my...

I have read a lot of stuff but nothing tells me what I will experience the day after I install a "touring" cam. I'm now in NH and have some 7% & better lengthy hills to climb. Daily up a steep grade...

Re: What's the latest you can remember anyone using an A?

I know Joe K, got to change my name now that I'm in NH. I'm putting a heater in my '30 coupe and you will see it daily on the roads just north of the Concord area. On bad weather days I'll stay off...

Re: What's the latest you can remember anyone using an A?

I drove my '30 phaeton every day to work, about 45 miles. I believe it was in 1978 that we had that fake gas shortage. I even commuted on 495 (had a B engine)you could back then at 55-60 mph. Problem...

Re: Hot water heater

Joe K, the reason I used Brewster town line is due to fact that the Bass River now runs east to west and replaced route 6 as the new canal. It was cheaper than putting a new bridge across the old...

Wink Re: Hot water heater

Come to think of it, you are not allowed to say your from the Cape even if you were born there but live west of the Brewster town line.

Re: Hot water heater

As to Cape Cod. We were there 20 some years but were never allowed to say "we're from the Cape". If I'd forget, some one would run down our mail box the next day.

Re: Hot water heater

Eureka! About two weeks ago I made up a like size box from foam board. Even put a little handle on it so I could try it for fit. Drew pix's of vents, etc. Probably spent a half hour every day trying...

Re: Hot water heater

originally thought I'd use a minimal marine fresh water pump as I'd tried H/W heaters many years ago. Fellow in the club says the scoop works well for him with older heater. Forgot how huge 3/4" ...

I purchased one of the 7" X 7 1/4" heaters & hose fitting with inner scoop to route hot water to the unit. Having one heck of a time trying to figure how to mount it in my '30 coupe. The choke rod &...

Re: Radiator cleaning

Russ, Thanks. Dan does not have the "tank" anymore. I've been placing a few calls in the New Bedford and Worcester areas. I think the old process is the only way to go for these old copper rad's.

Radiator cleaning

No shops on the Cape "tank" our old radiators anymore. That led to a bad scene last fall. Does anyone know of a shop in eastern Mass. that continues to use the tank process to chemically clean our...

Just finished installing Red's kit in a '41 chassis. We hung the mid straps from a hole drilled in top of outer frame. It does not hang 100% vertical but does the job. Used a scissor jack tween frame...

Re: aluminum finish?

well, that was quite an answer 34 pkup. I'm sorry I used the word "aluminum" as it suggests I'm stupid. I don't read all the posts on the Barn, but of those I have, I've not seen this type of reply....

speedometer face, cleaning

1940 dial is darkened & splotchy. Looks like a lite cleaning would improve it. A cotton swab with some cleaning fluid? Any thoughts on good fluid, perhaps "Dawn" which works on oil stains? I'm sure I...

40 trunk latch problem

The 40 sedan had sat for some 40 + years and the mice urine had so rusted the latch that it would not open! Had to cut my way in via back seat to get it undone.

The repop latch seems decent in...

Re: 1940 muffler clamp - 11a-5259

Hi Kube, The green book has the 11A-5259 clamp (muffler outlet pipe front) as '39 to '41. The 99A-5261 clamp (muffler outlet pipe rear). The drawing shows the 11A upside down. At least on this '40,...
