Re: 1934 Tudor needs a towbar - picture

I agree Mart. If I remember correctly, most pickups in the 50's and older came without a rear bumper, much less a trailer hitch. Most I remember seeing had a home/garage built bumper, with a hitch...

Re: 47 Ford Headlights

You might make sure you don't have 12 V bulbs. They would work but be much dimmer.

Re: 1947 Ford - convert to open drive line

By the way, BobH, I have a '48 Ford Tudor which I converted with a 10 bolt Chevy rear and a T5. I used Cornhusker's adapter plate and a Firebird bell housing on my Olds engine. I used a hydraulic...

Re: 4-7 psi cap for Griffin radiator?

I bought a 4 lb cap for my 54 NAA Ford tractor from the local auto parts store. Those old tractor radiators won't take high pressure either. Take your current cap with you to match up correct...

Re: Choke/throttle rods set up

I once had a lawn tractor (Simplicity) that had a push/pull throttle. It had a speed control built into the dashboard mount for the cable mechanism. You could pull the throttle out to your desired...

Re: Autolite 216 plugs

Someone asked where NGK's were made. That is a Japanese company, but who knows where they are made now. I've used NGK's since the 60's in Japanese motorcycles. I don't own one now, tho. Seems like...

Re: My first dumb question

Didn't Simca use the flathead V8 for a few years? May have even had a column shifted 4-speed? I think I knew a young lady who had one in the 60's.

Re: 1938 ford standard 60 hp motor

They are probably left-handed valves. They do open by turning counter-clockwise, but do so by screwing the stem off of the seat inward. I've fooled with lots of them.

Re: windshield seal on a 46

Be sure to get the correct seal for whether or not you have the center trim piece.

Re: New misfire - sticky valves?

You might try starting the engine at night and looking at the plug wires and distributor cap in the dark. You'd be surprised how much arcing shows up that way.

Re: WHO Is the Oldest Early V8 Forum Member?

I'm 74 and a couple of years older than my '48 Super Deluxe Tudor. It's not flathead powered, but an Olds with a Muncie 4-speed. I've been around flatheads all my life, tho having learned to drive...

Re: Trouble shoot 1950 8Ba initial start up Help

I agree with Tubman, I think your ignition timing is way off. Especially if your timing by eye appears to be 2" advanced. That is way too far off for the engine to start. Get a timing light and...

Re: 12 year old Coker tires, still ok?

I'd probably run them, but not at serious speed. I've had several blow-outs on my motorhome with proper inflation, excellent tread, but 10-12 years old. Never a front tire, thankfully.

Re: dashboard removal

If you are asking about the plastic ribbed trim piece, it is attached from the rear in only a couple of places, kind of central to each of the three pieces. Maybe 1/4" bolts, with fairly large head....

Re: Just won't fire up.

Bad or old gas will do that. I have a generator that will not run properly on old gas while the fuel injected Motorhome engine will run on it. Fresh gas and the gen. runs fine. I don't drive the...

Re: Ford service/Award pin?

May be an award program for employee-suggested part, which resulted in improvement in cost or efficiency. My company did that for years. Union Carbide originally, then Martin Marietta etc.

Re: Prony Brake Ideas

Hey Tubman, Isn't there a vintage gasoline engine on display at some historic town in Florida that is said to be the largest Gasoline engine in the world or some such?

Re: Holley 94 Thottle Cable/ Linkage Fitting

Look at Ford Tractor linkages. They are at least similar, but I'm not sure of the size compatibility. Ford 8N, 2N , 9N and NAA thru 800 series are all similar. Marvel Schebler is one of the carb...
