Re: Distributor Cap Advance Lever Slot
That picture is nice, but does anyone have an original Ford drawing with the actual dimension of the slot?
I went out and measured 3 different distributor bodies just now and got 3 different...

Re: Nu Rex ignition switch
We reconnected a couple of wires where they attach to the switch and where they attach to the coil. That's about it.
You will also want to be sure your cable going into the distributor is screwed...

Re: Differential Pinion Gear Bearing Preload
Bob, would it be possible for you to post scans of those pages here so that we can read the entire procedure in context?
It is not clear to me where the in-lbs of torque you are quoting are to be...

Re: Separator
I like my cast iron bulb separator on my car. Every now and then I will open the little drain valve and let some fuel run into a clear glass jar, to look for water in the gas.
We have discovered...

Re: Upper Front floorboard reinforcements?
The dowel is not reinforcing the joint as much as it is reinforcing the top wooden board where 2 deep notches have been cut into them. The narrow rectangular pieces to the left of the clutch pedal...

Re: Zenith carburetor
It's a Z.
Manufactured by Zenith (H for Holly and no mark for Ford if it's a Zenith-3).
Zenith was the design holder for the carburetor, but they licensed it out to be manufactured by others to...

Re: Town Car
It is hard to tell a real Town Car from a "made one up from a Fordor Sedan" Town Car replica, unless you look at it from the back. It is pretty easy to make the rest of the car look correct.
Look...

Re: Town Car
There were 96 Town Cars made in 1930 (Great Depression beginning to hit).
They made 1,013 Town Cars in 1929 (peak year of the Roaring 20's boom).
They made 89 in 1928 (ramping up production).

Re: model A airplane carburetor?
Yes, I believe so.
See original page number 1772b (file page n39) of the magazine "Aviation Week" in the link below. They refer to fitting a Stromberg NA-R3 carburetor (same as the data plate on...

Re: Finding a nice Model A
Have a paint shop do a computer scan of the existing paint that want to match.
Do a test spray with that to confirm the match.
No paint code or formula will match existing old, aged paint....

Re: Finding a nice Model A
Not the bodies, only the fenders, splash apron, etc., beneath the body.
Andalusite Blue was available for many body styles in '28/'29. It is a very dark blue, almost black. It looks black when not...

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals
The main difference is the brightness of the two. Parking Light is only about 3 cp. Not too bright. Turn Signals need to be bright, like 32 cp or so.
I have seen turn signal controllers that...

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals
I agree with you about the cold blue light from the focused LED headlights, I don't like it. I prefer the warm white of the incandescent bulbs. But I like to see, and you can't beat the light beam...

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals
Joe, you raise some good points!
1. If you want the second socket inside the headlight reflector to serve as both Parking Light and Turn Signal bulb, you need to rewire it with a 2-filament bulb...
