Re: Labaron Bonnie

Jeff,
You don't show where you live, but if you are close enough you might head over there...or a friend in the area? Fellow Barn member?

Brent,
Are you certain or not certain? ;)

Re: Fake eBay listing

The "Buddy Stewart" name threw me off. It's a Stewart truck. Here's some more info...

Re: Fake eBay listing

Also, I think there are many non car people that use "Model A" as a generic term for any old car. Like some call all soda types Coke even when they want an orange.

Whatever it is, I like it! ...

Re: Brake adjustment - Frustration

It depends upon where you have the jack stands.

NOT under the frame rails...under the front and rear axles.

Also, I'm a firm believer in adjusting the brakes so that the front come on first...

Re: Who sells sealed beam conversion rings

Consider leaving the stock headlights but adding some 6V driving lights mounted to the bumper.

Re: Shift-Speeds

The manual calls for a shift from 2nd to 3rd at 12-15 MPH. I assume that's with the standard 3.78 gears. I'd think with a 4:11 rear end you'd want to be in 3rd before that.

Re: Mitchell transmission or overdrive

A Model A has so much torque (125 ft lbs) relative to its weight that I can't see how splitting gears would be an advantage. The owner's manual wants you to get into high gear at 12 MPH.

I also...

Exactly. :)

The second problem is somewhat of a mystery, however. Here's the normal way of wiring a starter solenoid in order to bypass the voltage drop resistor when the starter is spinning...

Re: Overheating cured by adding thermostat

Exactly the same problem and solution with my 1930. I believe the new pumps have TOO MUCH flow. Another solution might be to shave some off the WP impeller blades.

Re: Broken Valve guide

X2...if I had a good running engine, with great compression I would change as little as possible to fix the noise. The guide for sure and the valve only if the stem is scored.
