Re: John Wolf of Automotive Engineering in Ely Iowa

John Wolf drove his 32 3 window coupe on the 2012 National Tour. His car ran very well and he seemed very knowledgeable about the cars. His son may have the business now.

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit BO - Hepl

The King-Seeley sending unit should match the oil pump max pressure. If you have an 80# oil pump and a 50# sending unit, the gauge will read max all of the time as long as you have normal oil...

Re: Replacement Switch for Heater on 1941 Ford

None of the switches on E-Bay are correct for a 41 Ford hot water heater. The correct switch has screw terminal, not slip on. I do have one for a hot air heater, which only has 1 speed.

Re: 35 wheel repair

I opened up mine in an inverted "V" manner. The part closest to the wire core is larger than the the part closet to the surface. I also drilled some holes in the side of the opening to give the epoxy...

Re: clutch adjustment

Adjust the clutch so the the pedal has about 3/4 free play before the throwout bearing contacts the pressure plate fingers.

It sound like you need to reduce the free play.

Your truck may not...

Re: Help runnin out of ideas

Slow starter is due to low voltage going to the starter or a mechanical problem in the starter.

Check the battery by connecting a meter across it and measuring the voltage while cranking the...

Re: How to calibrate oil pressure gauge?

Actual oil pressure is not important to me. I just want to know that I have pressure and that it does not change from what is normal for my car. A change from normal, will let me know that something...

Re: Ford 94 equalizer valve

I am with the others in saying that the one on the right is an economizer valve. It looks too tall for the 59 and earlier models. Check for interference between the body of the bowl and the threaded...

Re: Engine Knock on a 1950 8ba

I had exactly the same problem on a rebuild I had done. I blamed it on the Egge pistons and the machine shop's job of cleaning up the deck. I never resolved the problem as the no. 2 cylinder decided...

Skip Haney may have an original type coil for your friends car. It will require the balast resister under the dash.

Re: How to set windshield glass in a 37 sedan??

You should have received P/N 20-2261-81 from Steele. It is the same as the 40 Ford Coupe seal. If yours is 1/2" larger, you probably received the P/N 20-7379-81 Seal for the 39-40 Sedan. I had the...

Re: 53 Mercury modification questions

The 59 AB engine is fro the 46-48 Ford and Mercury cars. The trucks changed to the 8BA type engine in 1948. The 51 Pickup engine would work in your 53 Merc. You will have to change the water pumps,...

Re: Fuel Sending Unit F1

If you have an original sending unit, keep it. It is better than any of the reproductions around. The reproductions do not work very well even after they have been adjusted.

Re: Muffler

Re: No more D.O.T 5 brake fluid for me

The alcohol will clean the lines and the wheel cylinders of the dot 5 fluid, but I would take the time to rebuild all of the cylinders. If any trace of DOT 5 mixes with DOT 3 or 4, it will coagulate...

Re: 8ba oil filter top, cant cure BAD leak

Remove the input line from the side of the filter, and then the brass fitting that screws into the filter housing. The fitting should only have about .040" opening for the oil flow.

Re: 8ba oil filter top, cant cure BAD leak

You may not have the restricted fitting on the input to the filter. The input fitting should have a small passage to restrict the oil flow.
