i've seen the fingers on the pressure plate seize, and the throw out bearing hub seize. both can be lubed thru the top cover. if you say it still moves when you tap the arm back, its not stuck...yet....

the thick ones are 6 cylinder, the thinner ones are v8. the mercs have a bracket on the bottom to bolt to the oil pan. gotta have the correct starter plate, check vanpelts for the real scoop....

i think the only gripe is they need to be used with the correct carb and manifold. not an expert, but if ford let them out the door, they must work!
