There are ball joint crackers which you'll be able to get from a hardware store. Or you can get it by removing split pin and loosen the nut a couple of turns, don't remove as this stops the drag link...

As blucar said factor in at least 20k to get on the road and then offer what your budjet allows. These old fords are great money soakholes. But also a 36coupe is one of the prettiest cars around.

I think I read on here some years back, that there were some cheap Chinese copy filters about without the bypass valve that caused many engine failures. Not trying to hijack your tread. cheers Tony.
