Never been to Cruising the coast . I do go to some of the local shows if it happens when I’m off . My go to is the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville Georgia every year. Lots of 39-40 Fords there.

There is a so called synchro clutch in the Columbia. It’s there to absorb the shock when shifting in and out of overdrive.

I’ve torn down more V-12 engines that I care to remember but can’t say that I’ve seen any cracking like the V-8 blocks. They have their share of problems but I’ve not experienced cracking issues....

I strobe all the distributors with the coil attached as a unit . Without the coil the numbers will change.

Check the ignition switch itself . They get burned and corroded over time and will cause a high resistance to the ignition system. Easy to disassemble and clean.
