Re: Torque Tube Bolts

Good question about the notch. Most all the ones I have seen have them. I have been putting the notch on the bottom thinking it was a lube drain passage.

Re: Brake drum removal

Unless you are trying to save the drums for some reason(?), the regular off the shelf flat/square end works just fine. Only cut deep enough to remove the riveted over part of the stud.

Re: Musty Smell

Dead mouse aside, nothing like the smell of an old car that had been sitting for years all shut up, that bring back memory's of when I was a kid, every time I get in one. Love it! :)

Re: Adding pics

I don't see an easy way to attach photos in PM's or emails. I can be done in PM's but above my pay grade! LOL Fast way would be to exchange email address and send photos that way or if you have...

Re: 1927 Model T - distributor questions

Don't know if anyone has suggested it, but you might want to drop the crankcase inspection plate and take a look at what is in the bottom end to see what crank and rods are installed. Also, what...

Re: 1927 Model T - distributor questions

Which distributor do you have installed? There were/are several different ones and each is a little different. Did you take it off? Unlike other cars, the Model T distributor does not have a...

Re: Manifold Gland Rings

The "Green book" show 1928 to 1934 with a B part number. As of it's printing in 1948 they had been discontinued being supplied thru Ford.

Ruth thank you for the correction on the year.

If Ford only used then in 1928 then why are all the blocks and exhaust manifolds machined for them?

Re: Anybody else quit Ebay because of fees and tax?

I still buy and sell. Oregon is one of 3 or 4 states that does not have a sales tax.

Re: Manifold Gland Rings

Except for a short time in I think 1930 (and then on only a few engines) all Model A engines used them. If Ford did not think they were important he would not have used them. all the engines we do...

Re: What Model "A" Book Do You Read the Most?

Snyder's and Les's books. Very little time spent reading the service bulletins or JS's.

Re: Model T rear axle nut

That is not completely true. Torque was set by the length of the wrench used and where the average person could turn it till it stopped. That is why wrenches come in different lengths. The spark plug...

Re: Model T rear axle nut

Back in the day, that would be today still. Not that uncommon on 6 volt cars, trucks and tractors. Most that come here asking get pointed in the right direction, but for every one that does, how many...

Re: Persistent Leaky Fuel Shutoff Valve

Most all the vintage and vintage style shut off valves that I have seen over the years are brass on brass.

I understand your point on that valve shown from Bratton's, the handle is a bit on the...
