Re: Head Bolt Torque-Hot or Cold?

Re: Follow up to Registration Woes
It was scary the first time I drove mine. Now, 35 miles would be like a trip around the block. You will get to the point where you won't want to park it after a while. A few months ago I went with...

Re: Powder coating parts
Someone I know got ahold of an old full size pizza oven. He did a headlight bar for me. Turned out great. He has the room for said oven in his shop. He also has a regular range/oven for small...

Re: water pump end play how to stop?
Are you sure it was the fan on the shaft or is it play in the shaft in the water pump housing? If it is the shaft, which is REAL common, you can rebuild or buy a rebuilt water pump. However, a much...

Re: Trans Bearings
By the time you get the tranny out and apart, the additional cost and work to replace all the bearings and get new shafts with O rings is all pretty minimal, and worth the effort and cost. Taking...

Re: Install generator
Fifty years ago you could probably hold the generator still and even jockey it around with one hand while simultaneously lining up the bolt. I seem to have less arm strength than I did 50 years ago,...

Re: U Joint Service
Get a pneumatic grease gun or you are in for a lot of hand pumping. I pumped and pumped and pumped, and then borrowed one and finally got the grease out the speedo hole. I think Harbor Freight...

Re: push button starter
I ordered and am very pleased with the no foot starter that I found advertised in the Restorer Magazine. I have the ability and access to the parts to make it up myself but I was impressed with the...

Re: 1930 Pitman Arm
The steering gear box is just one link in a series of things that affect loose or tight steering. Unfortunately, there is no one single item that will be a cure. At 90 years old, we seem to deal...

Re: Why wire up brake "dog bone"?
I had my first experience looking at a '28 last night. Went to help a newcomer to the hobby with brake adjustment. On my '29 the main cross shaft has bushings at each end where the cross shaft...

Re: 8 volt battery in 6 volt car
We buy all these neat old cars and want to experience the unique-ness of having a Model A. Isn't it kind of baffling that one of the first things many of us want to do is mess with some of the basic...
