Leaving the studs loose in the drum it has not caused any problem so far? The studs have play in them cause the drum holes are larger,i would think the assembly would shift back and forth while...

That sounds interesting,you are doing half of the stud at a time i guess less pressure required.i will think about it before i grind the tool,thanks.

you have to clean out the carb per tom endy's instructions use a paper clip and blow gun and you will see the rust fly out,also install flowed jets not the repro crap.

i have the same problem coming back from a show on sunday (100 miles)the car started popping through the carb and would not idle well.the outside temp was in the 90's and the radiator thermometer...

you are probably right because the internal tube is rotted away for a couple of inches it is steel,i guess they did not last forever.when they went must of been interesting!

that is it,mine is brazed near the out let either a blow hole or crack,hard to see inside tube is in the way.

the tube is probably over an inch inside diameter and fittings on both end about 3/8 the tube is rotted out in about the middle.

Thanks,it appears the way he has the clip sitting in the photo you just slide it down the dist. Shaft which would leave the tang facing up. I don't believe this engine ran very well with no clip!...
