Bob, I will probably plug this hole but was going to use ferrous plug as I was considering sealing the block with sodium silicate after tapping and plugging and I didn't think the brass or copper...

Good questions Brent, I don't know why the groove is cut like that but my guess was someone peened over a plug at one time and needed to remove it so they cut a slot for a screwdriver to try and get...

Just be careful not to get the exhaust pipe too close to the fuel line on the drivers side or you will have vapr lock issues.

Got it apart by attaching a ratchet strap to the rear axle bulling backwards and a come a long on the engine pulling forward and driving the u joint forward through the grease hole in the torque tube...

Here's the scoop: 8BA in a 34 coupe. Decided to change over to 12 volt neg grnd, Swapped out the bulbs and such. Sent the gen to the shop for 12 v field coils, brushes etc. New optima 12 v battery....
