Re: Engine removal '38 deluxe
I have a 59 block on engine stand now. Facing the crank gear installed on the crank, the teeth slant off the the left side. Looks like yours on the crank in the picture of it on the floor. I bought...

Re: 39 No fire at the plugs
First, I don't know squat about a Mallory distributor. But the negative side of the coil goes to the distributor in a negative ground system. The original post said the coil was wired with battery...

Re: Volts?crab
Hope, I had essentially the same question. This thread has some good information in it, though it is a little long read.

Re: Engine removal '38 deluxe
I removed/installed the engine in my '38 Deluxe with the transmission attached. I just removed the grill (and radiator) and had no problem with getting it aligned.

Re: Swap 46 transmission internals into a 37 box
I can't help you with the fine points of the inspection, but I'm pretty sure you will need to change the second/high shift fork to one with a 3" fork unless you already have the later gears in the...

Re: Exhaust Manifold Bolts:
The bolt holes for the manifolds are blind holes. If you put too long bolts and tighten too much you can crack the block into the water jacket. Make sure the bolts are short enough not to bottom out,...

Re: Next move??
Now that we know you had rust THROUGH preventing air pressure build-up, if the holes aren't too large i would consider cleaning the backside at the penetration sites and use an epoxy to plug the...

Re: 1 wire alternator installation questions..
As stated above, a 10SI is all you need for your application. I would also consider using a small pulley on it to get the charge rate at idle that the alternator is capable of. A street flathead will...

Re: 8BA in a 36 Ford
Coopman, I appreciate your taking the time to locate the pictures and information. The later pitman arms don't appear to be longer than my current arm and reversing the drag link would make things...

Re: 8BA in a 36 Ford
Thanks for that info. Now I'm wondering if one of the later arms is longer and will fit the '37-'40 steering box? There must be a reason the '40 worked with this set up.
Not trying to hi jack this...

Re: 1934 ford correct foglights
These are Unity lights that were pre-sealed beam. I replaced the sockets with modern style and installed 1157 bulbs to use as park/turn lights. They are made of stainless steel.

Re: 8BA in a 36 Ford
Is the pitman arm the same on the '37 thru '40 steering boxes? I'm scratching my head searching for the reason the truck pan worked in my '40 but doesn't in the '38.

Re: Dual points for increased dwell??
I found (I think) the article you read. Notice he is a MGA (British sport car) expert comparing 4 cylinder distributors that already have 60 degrees of dwell (he says). Naturally, dwell isn't a...

Re: 8BA in a 36 Ford
From my experience, this isn't a problem in the '36 only. I have a truck pan on the 8CM engine in my '38 coupe. After I had the engine in, bolted down, and running I discovered the pan/steering...

Re: not a fan.
I had a '40 with an 8CM. The 8CM had the crank mounted pulley/fan hub. I think it was cut to the length of an 8BA pulley because it butted up against the seal sleeve on the crank snout. I still have...

Re: Seeking Info on a 1939 Tudor Sedan
The VIN is stamped on the top of the frame rail on the driver side between the firewall and the front crossmember. It is usually located about where the steering gear is.

Re: Gosfast Gary from NY?
From what I know of him, he was a great example to try to follow. He helped me with advice and sent me small parts and wouldn't even accept postage. Prayers for comfort and peace for his family.
