Re: 94's; block off a power valve, or....?

No need for the vest, no bullets aimed at you or anyone else. Yes, you built the carbs and no, I never opened them up. I put them on, adjusted the idle, and off it went after a world of problems...

Re: 94's; block off a power valve, or....?

Carbs were built as a pair with specs for the engine by a very reputable builder. My fuel pressure is set at 2 and doesn't seem to be an issue. The intake is an Eddie Meyers repop. Main size I...

94's; block off a power valve, or....?

Two 94's on my 276 incher on what I call the Eddie Meyer high rise intake. The motor has restart problems and yesterday started missing badly. When I pulled the first plug the problem was obvious. ...

8ba truck bellhousing: Any uses?

One part in my pile is a bell housing from an 8ba with a heavy duty four speed behind it. Are these of any use for transmission conversions?

Re: 1.6 intakes, 1.5 exhaust. Any merit?

I forgot to post that I've gasket matched the intakes and done some minor clean up port work on both in and out sides. This has been minor, mostly cleaning up slag and opening up the exhausts to...

1.6 intakes, 1.5 exhaust. Any merit?

I'm just getting started on building the last flathead in my garage. It will be a .125 over 239 8ba at 258 c.i., L100 cam, dual intake, aluminum heads; in other words a pretty standard street...

Re: How many classic cars got trapped because of Hurricane Harvey?

Off of old cars: Check out your charities carefully. Many, including one mentioned, have a high percentage of their donations go to high salaried CEO's, big advertising budgets, or money donated...

"Won't restart when hot"; weird solution

My 8ba in my 39 refused to restart after it had warmed up and been on the road for a while. I posted and got lots of suggestions. I had already rerouted the gas lines away from any heat source so...

Re: won't start when hot

Cranking speed has always been good, no drag or hesitation. The starter is an aftermarket 12 volt as is all the wiring. After sitting all night the car fired when I hit the key this a.m.

won't start when hot

My flathead in my 39 won't restart after the car has warmed up. The engine is a 270 inch 8ba, aluminum heads, two 94's, cam, chevy distributor by Bubba with a Pertronix. I thought it was vapor...

grease in the fan?

I have a 46 59a motor, not sure which fan. It's a 4 blade with the wide pulley, all lines up so that should be OK. There's a slight wobble in the fan when the belt isn't tight but I've run things...

f-1 bell housing, 4 speed.

Somewhere in my picking thru one of my friends' scrap parts I picked up a bell housing from a 1949 F-1. The owner was having his granny gear 4 speed swapped for a T-5. I passed on the trans but...

Re: Truck bell housing

My impression was they're called hogsheads and I can see the resemblance. But I'm not sure. I seem to remember something about them being easily adapted for later Ford trans'.

I have a bell housing from a 1949 F-1 that had a granny gear 4 speed. Are these useful for any of the transmission conversions?

Re: trans input shaft wobble

I have disassembled this trans and found it was in excellent condition, possibly even rebuilt and then had very few miles put on it. I've replaced some bearings, clutch shaft, and a reverse idler...

trans input shaft wobble

I'm changing the clutch on my 59a/39 trans just because while I have it apart I want to go back up with new parts. The combo ran and shifted fine. However, when reassembling it I discovered that it...

I just hooked up the vacuum advance on my 46 59A, basically a stock motor .040 over with two 94's, crab distributor by Bubba's. But something has been haunting me. Do I remember reading somewhere...

Re: vapor lock

Don't leave out ethanol. My Model A buddy was vapor locking every time he turned the car off for a short period of time. Simply switching to non-ethanol cured it.

Re: Rear hub install ?? HELP!

I just went through a similar problem. Do you have a short shoe and a long shoe? By that I mean does one show have shorter friction material than the other as all the metal holders are the same. ...

Re: mechanical drums vs. hydraulics/wide 5's

OK. Got it. This may not be the definitive word on 36-39 Ford drums but it's my experience. #1. If you put the shoes on backwards (short shoe, if you have one, in front) the drum will not go on...

When I used to be in adult education, we used to say; "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people asking them." So consider the source on this one:

When putting my rear brakes back...

Re: mechanical drums vs. hydraulics/wide 5's

With the shoes fully retracted, it makes it until about the first two threads of the axle are showing. As to the post that said all 36-39 drums are the same, I've looked at a bunch and they are...
