Carbs were built as a pair with specs for the engine by a very reputable builder. My fuel pressure is set at 2 and doesn't seem to be an issue. The intake is an Eddie Meyers repop. Main size I...

8ba truck bellhousing: Any uses?
One part in my pile is a bell housing from an 8ba with a heavy duty four speed behind it. Are these of any use for transmission conversions?

I'm just getting started on building the last flathead in my garage. It will be a .125 over 239 8ba at 258 c.i., L100 cam, dual intake, aluminum heads; in other words a pretty standard street...

"Won't restart when hot"; weird solution
My 8ba in my 39 refused to restart after it had warmed up and been on the road for a while. I posted and got lots of suggestions. I had already rerouted the gas lines away from any heat source so...

Cranking speed has always been good, no drag or hesitation. The starter is an aftermarket 12 volt as is all the wiring. After sitting all night the car fired when I hit the key this a.m.

won't start when hot
My flathead in my 39 won't restart after the car has warmed up. The engine is a 270 inch 8ba, aluminum heads, two 94's, cam, chevy distributor by Bubba with a Pertronix. I thought it was vapor...

grease in the fan?
I have a 46 59a motor, not sure which fan. It's a 4 blade with the wide pulley, all lines up so that should be OK. There's a slight wobble in the fan when the belt isn't tight but I've run things...

Somewhere in my picking thru one of my friends' scrap parts I picked up a bell housing from a 1949 F-1. The owner was having his granny gear 4 speed swapped for a T-5. I passed on the trans but...

My impression was they're called hogsheads and I can see the resemblance. But I'm not sure. I seem to remember something about them being easily adapted for later Ford trans'.

Don't leave out ethanol. My Model A buddy was vapor locking every time he turned the car off for a short period of time. Simply switching to non-ethanol cured it.

OK. Got it. This may not be the definitive word on 36-39 Ford drums but it's my experience. #1. If you put the shoes on backwards (short shoe, if you have one, in front) the drum will not go on...
