Re: Paint & clear coat

If you scuff a panel say, a door, to blend a fender to a door you can get away with one coat of clear on the door where it meets the next panel before the color changes. In other words, clear will...

Re: Twin post lift

I have a twin post lift and a cherry picker. I would never consider using my lift like that. For one thing, when a car is on the lift it should be pretty well balanced front to rear so there is not...

Re: 8BA potential leak- Bubble test

By coolant analyzer are you referring to a block tester? I have found them to be very accurate for indicating any hydrocarbons in the cooling system. Just make sure your coolant level is low enough...

Re: No Spark

If your battery is low it is possible there is not enough voltage left to fire the coil while cranking. Get it cranking up to speed and check it for spark.

Re: A Young Mans Questions

At a recent event I was parked next to a car set up for drag racing. Roll cage, big block, parachute, ect.. We found amusement in the fact that my car was also equipped with a big block.. In it`s day.

I have decided to go with a Mitchell overdrive in my 37. Engine is in good health but it is a 21 stud 85hp stock engine. After doing the math I have calculated my rear end gear must be a 4.10 ratio....

Re: I decided to make a little anvil.

I have a short section of track in my shop too. Just a 6 inch piece of track but I have beat on it for the last 30 years or so. Handy little chunk to have around.

Re: Dual master cylinder update

In line residual valves have been around for a long time for applications like this. A 10lb valve is recommended for drum brakes, and for disc brakes a 2lb valve is available for applications where...

I just had a member PM me saying he ordered the 36456 master cylinder from Rock Auto. It arrived and has a 1 inch bore. I checked and sure enough, it is now listed as a 1 inch bore. Thinking I made a...

Re: buffing or sanding out sgl stage paint

A buffer and polish will shine your surface but will not remove any surface scratches or imperfections. If it is already pretty nice I would sand with 2000 staying away from edges you may not want to...

Re: 1947 Tail light issue

The bulb will come out if you remove one of the Philips screws and loosen the other. Looks like a fog light bulb. Aftermarket for a brighter brake light.

Re: buffing or sanding out sgl stage paint

I think you mean start with 1000 grit, then 2000 then buff. I usually start with 1000 then do 1500, then a medium compound followed by a fine compound if necessary, then polish.
