Re: Sitting engine - ATF?

Also, hope you didn't buy the cork/rubber composite gaskets. After one year on mine they swelled up and leaked. Junk.

Re: Wire vs lock washers

I use safety wire everywhere but maybe on the rear motor mounts because it is so hard to get in there with wire.

Re: Coolant Seepage at front of head

Leak is definetely coming from head gasket. No more torque to be had. What next?

Re: My FIRST Phone call to Burt's in Colorado

Yes it is always busy - seems there is always someone on the line calling and holding the phones up so you might have to call back.

Re: Coolant Seepage at front of head

Tomorrow I will check the torque cold and start it up to make sure the leak is actually coming from the head gasket and not the water pump.

Re: Coolant Seepage at front of head

I warmed it up for a good 15 or so minutes. Coolant is definetely leaking from front of head as the car was stationary the whole time. Once it got hot I tried to torque the nuts on the front and got...

Re: Coolant Seepage at front of head

The engine was rebuilt by me last Spring. I retorqued it several times until no more adjustment. I think I will start it back up and see if I can squeeze anything out.

Coolant Seepage at front of head

So I got the Roadster running for the year and it has been running great but I am getting a fair amount of seepage at the front of the head. I am running a 6:1 high compression head from Snyders that...

Re: ignition

The original design or even the so called modern one work fine. The problem with the electronic ignition is that since it is a solid state unit, it can go at anytime and there is no fixing it unlike...

Re: One piece distributor shaft?

I have seen quite a few of them in ones I have rebuilt. You can still buy them as well. People don't like them because of the way it wears bushings.

Re: BIG gap under cowl

I put the blocks or shims under the cowl to align the hood. Thats how far it had to go up to fix it.

Some of the blocks that were in there were not correct and I was able to fix some of them but...

Re: BIG gap under cowl

Here are pictures of both sides - it looks like the hood isn't aligned but that is because I don't have the brace rods in place.

BIG gap under cowl

I haven't been on here in quite some time as it has been a crazy 6 months but I am now back as I am running into some serious issues on my 28 Roadster.

Some background: my car was hacked up by the...

Re: Posting this for a chuckle, unless you're grumpy, in which case you may hate it

This is the problem with online auction places like Ebay. A lot of people think that just because something is old means it is worth a lot of money. Then another person sees the past auction and it...

Re: Cleaning Silvered Plated Lamp Reflectors

I believe a lot of the tarnishing comes from incorrect gaskets on the headlamp. The cork gasket should make it very hard to snap that ring in. It almost makes it like an air tight seal. If done...

Re: Possible Scam

I have gotten similar messages to that on here recently and also on the Tri Five forum. I thought it was a scam too. Always be skeptical of the guy who just joined.

Re: New Manufactured Zenith 1 Carb

There have been many threads on them, and I have come to the conclusion that they are hit or miss. Instead of a new one you can get a rebuilt one cheaper. I don't see any reason to buy a new one as...
