Skip Haney numbers, date codes, and initials every coil he rebuilds. They can be ID'd immediately without the need to measure resistance. Anybody seeking specific information on his coils should call...

When I visited Skip Haney several years ago, he was not winding the coils himself. This operation was being outsourced at that time to an automated coil winding facility.

Amen, to that.....and I might add.... a known good quality condenser along with that good quality set of points, and all components set up correctly, are very crucial in getting those many trouble...

I use stock condensers that are tested and known to be good with Skip's rewound coils. They work well....and last a good long time.

The coils offered by Carpenter, made in China, were known to be problematic early on. Not sure if that problem was ever corrected, nor if they still sell these coils.

This may be the reason Bob Drake stopped selling them.....let the prices of those who purchased quantities at the initial price skyrocket, and then Bob can start selling them again at a much higher...

idk, looking at those pictures, the tang on the end of that distributor shaft looks like its closer to the center line of shaft as compared to the helmet style distributors that I'm most familiar...
