It will show above full. But the best way is to start empty, add one gallon then set gauge on empty. So it doesn't matter what it shows on full, you'll know you have a gallon left when it shows...

Hi Ed, I just had 2 of mine apart that were leaking also. It was the o-rings on the adjustment stem , replaced them, added fluid & no leaks.

Round speedometer
The speedometer out of my 30 coupe shows 5mph slow compared to a GPS. Itook it out of the case & there appears to be an adjustment screw on the back side, is that possible? Can it be adjusted & how.
