Re: 10mpg

Alright, so you guys really got me thinking... Eagle, you suggested to advance the spark until my engine starts to ping, then back off a little. Starts to ping? I’ve never heard my engine do that...

Re: 10mpg

So, I did a few test drives today with different GAV settings, and it turns out I still get about 10 mpg even with the GAV at 1/4 turn and all the way closed. I know the GAV is doing something, as it...

Re: 10mpg

Hey all, thanks a lot for the suggestions. I have checked the speedometer (and odometer) against a GPS, and it’s pretty much spot-on. I also just checked my spark plugs, and there is some black...

10mpg

Hi all! I have a 1928 Tudor, and I get 10mpg. From reading other posts and articles around the internet, I’m getting the impression that this isn’t completely out of the range of what I should be...

Re: Keeps blowing fuses — alternator problem?

Sorry for the long delay on this. A combination of major shipping delays and extended power/internet outages in my area set me back a month in fixing this problem!

Re: Keeps blowing fuses — alternator problem?

Great suggestions from everyone. I’ll check for shorts in the places several have suggested, although if there is an intermittent short it may be difficult to detect under static conditions when I’m...

Re: Keeps blowing fuses — alternator problem?

So I cleaned both my battery posts and the battery ground cable, sanded the part of the frame where the ground cable attaches to expose the bare metal under the paint, and ran a #12 wire directly...

Re: Keeps blowing fuses — alternator problem?

Ah okay, I understand now. So I see why that would prevent the alternator from blowing the fuse... would that also mean the ammeter would only show power being drawn from the battery, and not power...

Re: Keeps blowing fuses — alternator problem?

Thanks so much for all the responses! I will try what Tom Endy suggested (wire the alternator housing directly to the battery ground, and clean the battery ground cable and terminals) and will report...

Keeps blowing fuses — alternator problem?

My Model A is running a 12V system, with a 60A alternator using the one-wire setup. I recently replaced the coil, and added a ballast resistor. The next time I drove, the car ran fine, but when I hit...
