Re: head liners

I just put a headliner in my 34 four door, Cartouche from Macs. Nice fit, quality material, and not a wrinkle anywhere. Frankly, comparable to the Lebaron Bonney kit I put in my 31 coupe although I...

Re: Window Channel

I used Jig-A-Loo for the same problem. It worked well. Don't get it on the paint.

Re: 32 windshield glass install

I did two 34 windshields with 1/16" glass setting tape. Slid the glass in the frame with pipe clamps with wood between the frame and the glass. Trim the excess with a razor knife.
C&G Ford parts and...

Re: Factory welding

I think those are resistance welds similar to the way band saw blades are joined but that's just a guess. I would think it would take a pile of amps to do the job since some of those welds are 12''...

Re: Happy Easter / All couped up

Is that the Clarksburg sugar mill? I thought that got turned into shops and condos.

Re: Maine Machine Shop to Replace wheel Bearing Races?

Glenn, Give the Boothbay Railway Museum a call. I believe they have a good sized lathe that they use for machining locomotive parts. Besides being railroad buffs they are also vintage car guys and...

Re: brake drum repair

I had J&G reline the rear drums on my 37 LaSalle and reline all the shoes with semi metallic composite. I sent them all my drums and all shoes were arced per drum. A very professional job at...

Re: Radiator support rods question

Buy a set of Model A mild steel rods from Brattons, cut them in half and weld in a length of 5/16" rod to get the length you want. Clean the welds up in a lathe, paint them black and you're good to...

Re: antifreeze?

Regarding shelf life, I'm not sure about the anti corrosion properties but I recently drained the antifreeze out of a boat engine that was winterized 20 years ago. It was clean, still bright green...

Re: 1932: Bixby Bridge, Big Sur, Ca

A great picture of a classic bridge. Across the road from the old Fords you can see where the old coast road goes off to the left. I haven't driven that road for a number of years but I assume it is...

Re: scissors lifts

I had a similar shop with a wooden floor and the building built on wooden posts. I didn't dare do any welding with the wood floor and a lift was out of the question. So, I cut out the floor, joists...

Re: 34 cdan

Elwood, I wouldn't think you would have to replace the whole fender well and that the lower 4" in most cases would do. Assuming that's the case you should be able to form the bottom segment from...

Re: Brake Shoe & Lining

I would go for the semi metallic composite material. I don't think anyone offers shoes relined with this material as a standard product but JG Brake drum will reline your shoes with semi metallic and...

Re: Brake drums. Parts is parts?

I bought front drums from Speedway for my 34 hydraulic conversion. They were both out of round and rubbed on the backing plate. I returned them for a full refund. No problem with Speedway. I think...

Re: Right hand drive steering worm advice needed

These RHD issues can be confusing. I bought a RHD sector from MAC's and it was correct and was good quality. I also bought a drag link rebuild kit which included springs, cups and end screws. The end...

Re: labaron bonny/ SMS

David is right. SMS is mostly in the fabric business. I had a good experience with them. I wanted a period looking material for my Model A that was made from synthetic fiber and moth proof. They had...

Re: Need a source~~~~~!!

Made one out of teak, scavenged from a local boatyard. My 37 LaSalle liked it. Carb stays cool.

Re: 1940 LaSalle Fuel Starved

I was told that with a leaky diaphragm, the laSalle pumps could dump fuel into the crank case. I'm not sure this is the case, but since the bottom half of the pump is a vacuum booster for windshield...

Re: The old guys

With all you 80+ year old guys weighing in and me being only 79, I feel like a kid!
I went to Home Depot in my 31 A. When I came out of the store a couple of women were looking at it. I told them I...

Re: Chrome plating?

I have been using Show Quality Metal Finishing in SeaTac WA. I sent a 34 grill shell to New England Chrome Plating. I forgot to budget in a defibrillator to go with the price quote. So, being in the...
