Changing distributor points

At what mileage do you recommend changing the ignition points?
I use the stock set up and have had good luck with Echlin CS30. I know there is a wide range of quality.
Also, how about the burn out...

Hi Glen, I highly recommend the Sierra brand. Doesn't foam, won't harm the paint or finish with my experience with it. I've been pleased in all my cars. If it does I'll come down there and wash it!...
