I got a Painless Performance one on Amazon. A little pricey, but I figured it beat the alternative!! You can test the continuity prior to installation by shaking it. (I didn't have a wrecking yard...

Third the motion to check the head surfaces for "flatness". Had two new Offy heads out of the box that were not flat and had to have them "skimmed" to get them to seal.

Had success with the stainless redi sleeve on both of the 59AB's I rebuilt. No leaks in either after lots of miles!! Really like the one piece front seal.:)

Tom, think something in the 7.2v. range would be what you'd expect on your Optima. Maybe also check your voltage regulator??
