First, lets look at a typical 49-53 8BA Flathead V8,
It's road draft tube and the back of the intake at/or under the carb
->where the vacuum line/wipers usually resides.

No need to spend $50 bucks on someone's wizzy "PCV" kit,
For around $5, you can install a PCV system on your Flathead..

Hi guys,
I'm wondering what would cause the speedo in my 49 M1 to chatter and bounce up to the end of the dial?

Is this cable/Lubricant or the actual speedo itself?

I never have.
As soon as it's installed, you fill it and start pumping fluid thru.
Bench bleed seems redundant.

There is no harm in coming off the break in (non detergent) oil and running a quality none synthetic oil for a few thousand miles (and don't pussy foot during break in, make it work).

The biggest problem with 80 year old mechanical brakes is generally not the brakes.
All the rods, joints, bushings and gimbal style connectors wear and things move unequally between left and right...

Aerostar springs are available in different spring rates.
Select a stiffer spring rate and go lower
or select a lighter spring rate and ride higher.
The difference will be in how much the spring...
