I think 10-30 would be the correct weight oil with stock bearing clearing clearances. Oil Pressure should be 10/15 lbs at idle and 40/50 at cruise. The reason is the lighter oil cools the bearing...

Good reason to change the rear end to a later open drive unit. I gave up on these rears and trans 50 years ago. If your a puris fine, but a daily driver, not so much.

I was always taught to use a grade #8 flat washer, din;t always do it but on a race motor do. Not sure where this comes from but torqing to 1oo bl it doesn't make sense to use a lock washer.

JUst heat and bend the arms down, they only have to clear by a "smig", as the radius rod follows the axle.

I used a78 ford rear from a C4 car in the junkyard. It had 3.07 ratio. I used it in a 52 PU with a 302 and c4 cruise was in the mid 2k around 65/70. It was practically a bolt in.
