Re: 1923 Canadian Tudor

This is the Tudor in question. We did the front end joints & a slogged out king pin plus many other small jobs . Car looks tidy & has been repainted, re wired & new upholstery but has not had a major...

Re: Car Stopped Running

Should explain ; I found the quote of original post somewhat amusing, 'foreign made ammeter'. As if everything outside US is cheap & faulty. Reality is problem ,as everyone suspects , is a cheap &...

1923 Canadian Tudor

Although I have been interested in Model A's for 60 years & owned one for 50years, I had my first ride & drive of a '23 Tudor today.
Owned by a friend, this car has not been road legal for about 57...

Re: Need Photos and Suggestions

Take off the door panel & put them in. The cars were designed for easy LHD & RHD conversion & metal should be punched out on your passenger door. Many cars now have locking handle on the drivers...

Re: Russian barn find - photos added as they come in

Interesting, appreciate all the Russian Model A & Gaz input you provide.
Is this Sedan one of the US CKD that Russia received as part of the Ford contract or is it a later Gaz made vehicle? The dash...

Re: Old photo with A and AA

That is true plus the Soviets had their sights set on tractor & truck production, not cars. Cars were required for govt. dept.s but private individual ownership was not the plan in a communist state...

Re: Has anyone seen original hubcaps?

Probably not. I looked at many Model A's here from late '60's & nearly all had missing hubcaps or were badly dented & scraped. Caps were just pried off or holding tabs snapped off easily. Looked...

Re: 1930 Model A Tudor

Ford Canada did produce a Tudor Deluxe in 1930. These [ & in 1931] were std models loaded with extras & with carpets. I have seen 2 '31 Tudor Deluxe Canadian cars, one somewhat over restored & the...

Re: 1937 Flathead lost bolt... Help!

I feel your pain on this. Did you actually see it go in ? If not, look elsewhere.
I recently thought I dropped [ same old fingers] a small feeler gauge into the valve gear of a small motorcycle...

Re: commercial color list for 1929

Yes. not a lot of choice with commercial colours until '31, most here were dark green.
New, buyer paid more for pin stripe & paint polish. To be correct, commercials were dull finish, not buffed....

Re: So when would my car actually have been made?

Do you think Ford threw all the '30 inventory away & only used latest production items on 1/1/31? That was not how the model changes occurred in that era. The s/s '30 shells would have been used up...

Re: Cowl Lites

Just about all countries in the world had laws that required cars to have lighting when parked. Often in those days, streets were not illuminated well like today. Probably to avoid other moving...

Re: Briggs Body Number

If there is an owners group, see if they have a register of body numbers. Yours is number 4028 of whatever is lowest & highest made for about 6 months in '31.

Re: 1931 - 170B Fordor DeLuxe Sedan

Steve, the figure of 378 total production for 1931 of the Deluxe 170B is the same as I have on my figures on Canadian production. They are not listed on the Ford Canada Overseas Shipments records, so...

Re: 1931 Tool kit screwdriver

Handles not heavily ribbed, but subtle.
You have it easy to find & identify. Try finding a Canadian one which were a bit different!
The 'driver was eliminated from the Canadian toolkit in late '30.

Re: Painting Accent Stripes

Yeah, it is a curse! [ million dollar memory] but handy at times. I read in a follow up article that the man striping the Tudor was actually from a 1936 photo & imposed into the scene.
They would...

Re: Painting Accent Stripes

Is it from the Restorer 1975, Sept./Oct.?
I also recall that photo, but all is not quite what it seems. It does show two pin stripe men, but the main one appears to be imposed into the photo [ look...

Re: Non-Authentic Paint Colors & Schemes

Bob has a good point, many traditionalists have given opinions & they believe it devalues a car with non original paint schemes, which I think is somewhat debateable. I am a purist but would not be...

Re: Painting Accent Stripes

As Duke36 quotes from the DeAngelis book, lower body colour first, then accent upper colour. These guys were professionals & would have been very quick.
Pin stripping was done after body paint was...

Re: Model "A" Cars vs. Their Successors

True, & unlike the B, the V8 was unknown territory in 1932 & Ford struggled to get it out ; he held back the Model B until it was ready, but unproven. The first buyers of the V8 were really road...
