Re: Intake questions

Thanks for everyone’s input. It was important to me to get a idea of what the larger port might be for because the manifold I put on my engine doesn’t have it. I was honored today to be invited to...

I took this intake off my engine because the flanges that position the generator bracket are broken. My question is about the two ports seen in the photo. I think I know what one of them is for,...

Re: Lubricating fan?

Thanks to all that responded. I am convinced that the fan hub does need to be serviced. Even though the 49-50-51 Ford F- series truck shop manual Chapter VI, section 12, FANS AND BELTS says it...

I need help from those on Fordbarn that are more familiar with the fan assembly on the 49-53 V8. I was leafing through the 2021 Van Pelt LLC parts catalog and I noticed on page 88 an article titled...

Re: Alternator bracket not fitting right

Thanks for everyone’s input. It seems the shaft on the fan bracket isn’t adjustable in and out, so the plate idea is out. I took the whole assembly to a local blacksmith/metal fabricator/welder...

Re: Alternator bracket not fitting right

Ggmac mentioned speedway’s bracket, but I have a motorcraft 3-wire alternator and speedway’s bracket appears to be for a single wire GM alternator. My bracket’s upper arms are offset front to back....

Re: Alternator bracket not fitting right

Yes, the front my intake has the “channel “ to position the alternator bracket from side to side. It’s not a great fit but it’s ok. Like Mart said, I also had the idea that I could file little bit...

Alternator bracket not fitting right

I bought a 1950 f1 that was converted to 12 volts with an alternator and a bracket that doesn’t appear to be manufactured well. If the photos display I hope to show that the square spacer/washer...

Ok. Thanks V8COOPMAN. I have printed the instructions so hopefully I don’t have to ask again.

Posting photos

I know this has been addressed numerous times but when I search for “ how to post pictures “ . It shows that “how to “ is too common and I get every post that has a picture attached. Will someone...

Re: Tonneau covers for 48-50 f-1’s

Thanks TJ. I did go to LMC site and they did have Velcro cover but it specifically says it fits 51-56 Flareside only. I will try calling them during the week. I don’t know what the difference...

Tonneau covers for 48-50 f-1’s

I have seen some nicely fabricated tonneau covers on some truck beds over the years but I never paid much attention. Now I can see the merits of having some sort of cover on the bed to keep...

Identification help for Ford rearend

I took the bed off my 1950 f1 in order to clean it up and now everyone that sees the truck mentions that I don’t have a 1950 rearend installed. Nobody is sure what application it comes...

Re: Lubriplate/something better?

I want to thank everyone who gave input. I used anti-seize on the contact points since I already had it on hand. I wish I had known about the Wurth penetrant because I twisted the brake line to one...

Lubriplate/something better?

I’m doing the brakes on a 1950 f1 and the Ford manual says to use Lubriplate on all metal to metal contact points. I am wondering if there isn’t a modern lubricant that’s even better. For instance...

Re: Bleeding brakes- not working

I now have the reservoir out and in a vise. Now I can see that the plunger is frozen (rusted?) in the fully “in” position. Is it feasible to attempt to rescue/rebuild this unit? Will removing the...

Re: Bleeding brakes- not working

I first tried the two person, pumping while the second person manned the bleeder valve (right rear). Then tried vacuum (Mity Vac kit). No fluid either method.
