I have read and heard the valve settings from 12 to 16 thousands
on the model a engine. Could you please enlighten me on the correct settings.

Chris, I had the same problem several years ago found out the wire running through the metal cable to the distributer was shorting out. Replaced with a new wire havenít had that problem since.

check the wire in the steel cable running from the switch to the distributer, it shorts out sometimes. I had that trouble and took me forever to find it.
