How To Remove Cosmoline

I have a French block that will be getting built soon but how do I remove the cosmoline?

What I know is that it’s a wax and hot water will melt most of it and then WD40 or something like it will...

In my old 40 coupe the floorboard pieces had shrunk over time so I used felt material the wife the had lying around for n the edges. Worked very well for the 15+ years I had the car .....
